Wow, I am so happy for all you on here. I had surgery on October 22 and am still in the hospital. I have terrible nausea and have been getting medication around the clock. I hope to go home in the next couple of days. Right now I am experiencing buyers remorse.

Have you tried G2 or power aid zero? Does it hurt every time or just at first sip? I know I cramp at first sip in the morning and the pills make me feel so full each time I take them. I have a big pill for my gallbladder so that must be it for me. I hope you start feeling better soon. One more question, have you tried sipping warm water?

I had a patch behind my ear that helped a lot in the hospital. But when I got home Thursday it was HORRID. I bawled and bawled and had more moments of remorse than anything! I called the hospital Thursday evening, they said just sip 30 mils of Water each hour through the night and then call the Dr. in the morning. He said to be sure I was taking my omneprozol, it reduces the acid in the new stomach. Plus, he added another med to get rid of the acid. I hope you're doing better!!

I picked up my nausea patch at the pharmacy today and got the last odds and ends I will need at the hospital and when I come home. I have sf Popsicles, sf Jello, some broth, yoghurt and cream Soups. I think I am ready! I even went to Macy's and got 3 new pair of comfy pj's. 4 more days!

Whew! I'm like a new person today. ( mostly) :-)

In fact, I am HUNGRY! Like, the kid's lunch was killing me. I didn't quite expect that.

And then my dad texted me and said he was slaving over the hot stove making scalloped potatoes and corn pudding for dinner. Oh my land. I want some chewable food so bad!

I went right out to the kitchen and make some de-caf coffee and put my unjur.y vanilla Protein mix in it, hoping the Protein (which I haven't been getting any of) would help fill me up. It didn't taste that great unfortunately, but my belly is full after a few sips. But dang, scalloped potatoes?! *sigh*

speaking of my dad...remember I only told him about the surgery 3 days before and told him I didn't want one word of judgement from him, expecting no communication from him for quite a while. Well, he texted me the day before, and even came to see me in the hospital! I was shocked!! And he's checked on me each day too. My mom said all he said was, "It was her decision, I don't have to like it." Alright then! That works. :-)

My lovely 21yr old daughter knows how crazy insane I go when the house is a mess. And by a mess, I mean cluttered, because during my nesting time last week, I got it nice and clean! But as we all know....that doesn't last long, especially with 5 kids around! So anyway, she took it upon herself to clean the house for me today! Oh my goodness, what a blessing. I even piddled around and picked stuff up and folded some laundry. Then I decided to get adventurous and my 8yr old and I did a walk around the block. Whew, pooped me out good! What beautiful, un-commonly warm weather we're having here in iowa. Love it!!

At a wedding reception right now and you guys would be so proud of me! I'm starting to feel a bit of hunger finally for the first time in 3 weeks!

I didn't want people to ask questions at our table so I put some extra food on one side of my plate that was really for my husband. There was such a good spread that I actually had some good options which was a nice surprise.

Over the course of the afternoon/evening I've had:

1 deviled egg, 3 bites of pulled pork no sauce (went down surprisingly well) and 4 (thankfully overcooked) green Beans

You may have already answered this and if so I'm sorry for repeating, but what is your Dr's exchange saying you should do?

Layknee. Warm fluids or at least room temp is better. I think your surgeon needs to be more involved with your care. Are you able to call him or text him? Maybe he has a answering service. Your health is very important & under no circumstances should you be put off after a major surgery. My 2 cents.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
