Not a great topic to talk about. But I had my sleeve on the 10/8, my nurse said I am constipated. Anyone else had this issue and how they resolved it. I have been taking stool softener and laxatives for 2 days since I have been home.

I didn't have a BM until 5 days post-op. Didn't feel constipated, just didn't have to go. Probably because I hadn't eaten anything other than a couple sips of broth and a couple bites of Jello. However, since then I had a BM every other day the next few weeks and now that I'm almost 6 weeks out, I have one at least once a day, usually twice. So my point is, don't stress too much about it until you are eating more unless you are truly uncomfortable.

I didn't have a BM for a week after getting home from surgery - was advised to increase my milk intake and that seemed to work. Then nothing for 5 days or so, so once on puréed foods I puréed some prunes and had them mixed with natural yogurt for Breakfast and that worked. Now I have them every other day or so, as I prefer natural remedies to laxatives etc.

I was all over the place. I was always once a day and post op it was days and days. But I wasn't uncomfortable. But when it did it was usually the other directions and very unpredictable and I'm glad a restroom was usually close. I'm 4 months out and pretty regular now.

I didn't take anything for it because I wasn't hurting from it.

Best of wishes to getting back to normal soon.

I have experienced severe Constipation 5-6 weeks post op, several times. Went to Urgent Care over it one time because the pain was unbearable and nothing seemed to work.

Constipation is no joke!

Check out this thread. There are others if you look around the forum. This seems to be a common problem for a lot of us.

Had a conversation with my dietician about this today. She said that flax seeds sprinkled on food are very effective so I'll get some. although the prunes do work for me.

It has been a little over seven weeks since my gastric sleeve and this is the first time I've experienced Constipation. It had been a few days. Gross, but I knew I had to work from the bottom up because it was there, but I couldn't get it out. I used an enema and I broke out into a cold sweat, was nauseous and dizzy. It worked, but the experience was terrible. Anyone else had that experience?

I am having the same issues as Tkas above! I am 6 weeks out post sleeve and it feels like I am creating rocks that plug my stool. When it finally comes out it is the most painful experience of my life. It has happened twice already and I can feel it happening again now! Nut told me to back off Protein so I am down to 40g, and added prunes. I've been doing the Benefiber and stool softeners for weeks but doesn't seem to be helping.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
