Amen Cowgirl Jane - it's always the struggle I have. We have all lost weight before it's the keeping it off that is the biggest task. Great perspective!

only down 22 pounds.

I'm 3 months out and have lost (only) 24 lbs so your doing a lot better than I am!

To be fair, you had a MUCH lower starting weight than most. Obviously the lighter you are, the more slowly you are going to lose. But I definitely feel your pain. Averaging only 6 pounds a month so early on would make anyone frustrated, no matter how low their starting weight was.

I think it is really awesome you have lost that much in one month. At two months, i am almost at 30 pounds lost. And I am okay with that.

I don't know if this is comforting for you but for me, I know whatever I lose is not ever coming back. I also know that even if it comes off slowly, it WILL come off because it HAS to. It's very empowering because before when I dieted pre-surgery, I always would think "how long is this going to take?" and "can I keep up this strict diet and exercise regimen long enough to lose all of this weight?" When I would lose slowly (which I would always do) I would just get so discouraged.

As many have said (and it's so true) this is a marathon and not a race. Enjoy each hurdle as they come, knowing you have the tool to finally succeed.

I would argue the main benefit of wls is setting you up for maintainance. I am nearly 3 years from my surgery and in retrospect it didn't really matter how quickly I got to goal. What matters is that i am still under my goal.

THIS!!!

Just stick with the program. It does and will work. I was only down 17 pounds at 7 weeks postop. Look at me now...11 pounds under goal. I never once whined or complained about my slow loss. I was just happy to be losing. If you can't stop comparing yourself to others or giving yourself unrealistic expectations, then stay off the scale. You didn't gain all your weight in a couple months and you sure aren't going to lose it all in a couple months. Seriously, just eat smart, concentrate on protein and water, relax and enjoy the journey.

im 3 days post op and im hoping for at least 20lbs n a month!pre surg liquid diet I managed to lose 9 lbs but it wasn't until the last few days that my scale budged past the 6lb mark!im not weighing myself until all my bloat and gas is gone!!hoping my dr follow apt next week!

Hi limbo!

I remember being told when I attended Weightwatchers and many other books/articles that if you eat too little your body goes into

starvation mode - it will hang onto your weight because it thinks there's a famine - we are primitive beings!

I would eat all my suggested calories and see what happens next week!

All the best - I can't wait until I have lost 22lbs - that's absolutely fantastic!!!! there's going to be much more! keep positive!

You may want to talk to your NUT about upping your protein. When I was on a restrictive diet, I lost more if I added a little extra protein. Not much, but it made a huge difference in my loss.

I stay on plan, eating right, and getting in plenty of exercise. My weight loss has been slow (in my mind) BUT I have never gained and that is enough for me. I go more by my dress size then I do by weight cuz I know the exercise is toning me and muscle does weigh more then fat. I have dropped several dress sizes during my journey so far. I'll take it and smile to myself as I look in the mirror each day. I pull out my jeans from the dryer and fold them, thinking those are so small, they can't be mine!!! Steady as she goes I say! I will be living this journey for the rest of my life. I will get to goal eventually.... Based on my own personal success and not based on other people who are working through their own journeys. Hang in there and love yourself and you will get there.

I am almost three months out. Our loss is very close to the same pass. I lost 15 before surgery and 45 after. Your body is getting use to the starvation mode. Just stay calm you will lose. 22 lbs is great for the first month.

I can relate to what you are feeling, but at the same time I can say, 22 pounds in 1 month is AWESOME! I remember being very close to that same number at my 1 month post-op point and thinking pretty much the same thing. But then I kept losing a substantial amount every following month (which didn't happen on those other diets) and I began realizing that this journey is different than before..... So take encouragement from someone who was pretty much at the same as far as weight loss at one month out, who went on to reach goal at 10 months and I'm now down 140 pounds at 12 months post op. You're on the right track, I promise!

I feel the Same way I am not Quite at a month I was sleeved on 9/17/2014 With Dr lutfi in Chicago.

Starting weight prior to 2week liquid was 277.8

Day of Surgery weigh in: 262.4

Todays weigh in 10/09/2014: 250

Total Weight loss 27.8lbs

My weight goes up and down between 250 and 240 and that is the Biggest defeat when i gain....

Im still on full liquids as I have tried pureed and got extremely sick..... Not cute feeling dirty booty all day at work lol !

I too feel Like I should be losing more weight but I havent lost Hope..

I am currently battling wanting to eat all the delicious food I see around and miss, but getting so sick off of pureed, made my cravings check themselves...

one day at a time.

8/28/14 initial dr visit I was 223. Surgery date 9/16/14 I was 215. Today, 10/9/14 I'm at 206.6. Discouraged - I do compare myself to others. Is this just another thing I will fail at - stays on my mind. Praying for better results soon ????
