I would suggest calling your doctors office and asking for specific instructions for pre and post op. My doctor requires everyone to attend a 3 hour meeting detailing pre and post op diets and what to expect in the hospital.

Do you mean your surgeon does NOT require a pre op diet, OR requires one, but didn't give specific details of what to do? As far as psychologically, did you have a psychological evaluation?

Well seeing as he is one of the best, I guess you are in expert hands. Maybe you can see a psychiatrist on your own to discuss your issues? You didn't indicate your starting weight or BMI. Maybe based on that you don't need a pre op diet.

Yes, it could be that your lower BMI is the reason. Here in the US some doctors do a pre op diet or some version of it, and some don't. I was required to do a two week. There are people who do one week, or two days before surgery. It varies. Best of everything with your journey.

@@sarahkaj I wish you all the luck with your surgery, and being done by a world known surgeon is great......BUT

based on the questions you are asking, it seems you are totally clueless with what is going to happen to your body...this is a serious surgery and doing your "homework" on pre - op and post-op requirements would behoove you and be in your best interest.

I am not trying to be mean, Truely I'm not..but please I'm begging you to do your due diligence and research this surgery and the effects it will have on your body and life. You are at a very low BMI, so I am just curious as to why you feel the need for the surgery....again..just curious.

Hehe :) dont worry im an RN.. i know exactly what the surgery is about.. its just that here in lebanon drs deal with this surgery quite differently.. so i was curious to know what people abroad do exactly. Here ur not required to take any supplements post op, and patients are actually doing well.. also ur not required to go on a pre op diet.. so i was just wondering why drs deal with the issue differently..

Well a bmi of 38 isnt considered low. Sleeve gastrectomy is done for people starting from a bmi of 35. 38 is actual obesity; not only overweight. Im just sick of diets and weight loss nd gain over nd over. Plus i work as an RN, nd started to have severe back pain. I just know being this "fat" is not doing me any good. I feel heavy, sometimes dyspneac, etc... plus its just gona boom my self esteem and psychological status when i lose weight ! This overweight is keeping me depressed.

My surgery was July 18th. I never took any kind of Vitamins before the sleeve as I have detest swallowing pills. Once I decided to have surgery my surgeon strongly recommended I start taking vitamins. So I started on a chewable and still take it. Vitamins are very strongly recommended in my program. I was required to do a two week pre op diet th as t consisted of Protein Shakes. Now over two months out I use unflavored Protein Powder in fat free milk to meet my protein requirements for the day. I have my 3 month visit on 10/20. My blood work will be done and based on results, my surgeon will make recommendations. Hope this helps. And yes, 38 bmi is obese.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
