Hey gang, been gone on spring break. Went to Zion N.P. had a wonderful time. Climbe Angles Landing which is about 1 mile up, it took us 2.5 hrs to do it. and we went hors back riding, I would have not been able to do either one of the things two years ago.

Hello everyone, I received the insurance nod today! My journey begins! I'm sooo excited, but the reality kinda hit as well. Before it was a dream. Now... I'm ready to look at, "the good, the bad and the ugly!" I think I was afraid if I read about everything, I'd talk myself out of it. One thing I know for sure, I can't loose the weight on my own. Thankfully, I have my Best Friend and Life Partner of 18 years to support me at home.

Congrats on getting the band. You'll do very well. Sounds like you've done your research. It's great that you partner is by your side. Mine has been fantastic.

Congratulations on getting approval, and you are so lucky to have such a supportive partner. It will be a life changing experience for both of you and I am so happy that you both will be together throughout the journey. I hope I will be as lucky.

Thanks all for the welcome. D and I got together in 1990. I was just out of the Army, and weighing 135lbs. I guess we got a little too comfortable and gained too much weight.. but it sure was fun! She doesn't qualify for surgery, but will change her eating habits with mine to loose about 50lbs. We've been on many diets together. Problem is my weight always came back and doubled. I finally had to admit that I couldn't do it on my own anymore.

I had my EGD on Friday, and I have a hiatal hernia. But the nurse said it won't stop me from getting lap band. I'll find out more in a couple of weeks. Hopefully he can fix it at the same time. Or later, and give me a free tummy tuck!!

Did I scare everyone away?? Hey, I just started here! Did the thread move? I like to read how everyone is doing. Or how about some newbies, like me? We know your watching.. :hurt:

..OK, I see the surgeon Friday. To go over my EDG, blood work and other tests. Monday is the Nutrition Class. Tuesday I have the Psych Eval. Looks like I'll be busy, busy! Can anyone tell me about the Psych Eval? When I called they said it was 100 Q&A. How much can they really learn about me from a test? That I'm not loopy! What if I am.. just a little bit. I mean, aren't we all?

hi seattle... i think a lot of us had trouble logging onto the site over the last 48 hours, so blame technical difficulties for the radio silence.

as for your psych eval, don't sweat it. imho: be yourself. my appt was pretty straightforward with the therapist asking if i'd had weight probs most of my life, why i wanted to lose weight, what was the source of my overeating and what kind of support systems did i have in place.

good luck and welcome

Hi you two, seems that you are only two! I just don't know what happened to everyone. They have been doing things to the site, evident by all the new little design changes and such. like the new little green dot with numbers , what the heck it that all about? can't find any reference to it. I've been trying to figure it out, we had such a great thing going, as you can see by the 72 pages of "family time". I don't think it is a glitch, but who knows. I'm not sure how I found this thread in the first place, kinda dumb luck:confused2:. sorry we don't seem to be here for you:frown:. I'd like to think of it as a good sign that people get to lose , become "normal" what ever that is, and move on to a new and better life, the band being just a stepping stone to that life that no longer defines us.

I don't really feel qualified to advise any one, as I've been in limbo here for all together too long. I need to move over to the turtle thread. Slow losers unite!!! Just went for a 6th fill last monday. we'll see...... I'm really working the exercise thing, not doing so well with choices. it's really still a diet in my book. again, still don't do well with diets. I really shouldn't go on, just discouraged at the moment. My one year just passed, I should be happy that I am a lot smaller than I was a year ago, but not where I should be. My only redeeming though is that my cousin had the bypass about a year before my band and she is no further than me. So when I ponder if I made the right choice, I think of her and all the complications she went though, including nearly death. for sure none of this is easy. but all said and done, would I do it again? YES! for surely other wise I would have put on 20 lbs this year, and not lost 48. Good luck to you, and do keep us posted.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
