Still no relief!

Are you still on pain killers? I learned from my husband's RNY (years ago), he dehydrated b/c of the hydrocodone. When we pulled him off that, he was able to start keeping things down. I worked hard to stay clear of the hydrocodone after my surgery because of that.

I chose not to take the pain meds after I left the hospital, and what you are describing is very similar to how I felt for about 5 days. I had extreme nausea. But I didn't throw up. On day 6 I had a slight improvement, and now I just finished day 7. I decided to get those shakes in one way or another, and I finally did meet my Protein goal. After adding up my day's fluids so far, I am a little over half way to goal.

But, I have read this is kind of normal. I really felt much more normal today. Like there is hope. I just keep telling myself that every day will be a slight improvement over the one before, and if I can even get in part of my requirements, it will all sort out Soon.

But my discharge papers really clearly stated to call the doctor if you have nausea. So I think you should call.

Hang in there girl, this will pass.

Today was SO much better! I have kept all fluids down and managed to get in a Protein Shake. Now my only problem is..I feel like I'm starving! Lol not sure if this is because I've had nothing but liquids since Sept 8 and also went over a week not keeping anything down. When I see the doc Friday I think I will be switched to soft foods. Kinda nervous about that but so ready to have something other than liquids. Thanks for all of the great advice! Hope everyone is doing well! To those of you having the same issues..hang in there it really does get better!

I am so glad to hear you are doing better!

My plan allows me to to add a Tbls of plain, fat free yogurt and either a 1 inch slice of banana, or a strawberry or two to my Protein shake. The yogurt really does help to bust up the horrible sweet taste of the shake. I like the small bit of real fruit in mine too. A couple hunks of ice and blend really well.

I can still hardly stand to drink Water, but my shakes, when done like this, really work well.

So for you today, try to get in your shakes, and I will focus on getting enough water!

But don't forget sugar free Popsicles, sugar free Jello.

Oh! I re read my plan, and I am also allowed 2 "snacks" of blended cream Soup, or blended been Soup, or tomatoes soup. I had made a nice 9 bean chili for my family, and I blended the heck out of a tiny bit of that, added extra broth to make it really soft, and gingerly ate 1 oz of that yesterday in between my Protein Shakes. It was amazing! I had no problem at all. I felt human again.

I am not sure what your plan allows, but I hope this helps!

Since we are very close surgery buddies, I will be watching for your posts!

@@alibye The Water was really difficult for me as well. Since yesterday, I haven't had any problems though. Just make sure you're sipping and not gulping too much at a time. I'm glad you are able to add to your shakes to help. As far as my plan, I'm not allowed anything but the Protein Shakes and liquids. I'm also allowed to have sugar free Popsicles, which have been amazing!

I find this site very difficult to use on my phone but I'll try to add you to my friends.

Do you have a stricture? Ask dr to scope you for asdurance of stricture this is usually covered gor the first yr which most appts are slso covered for follow up visits the first yr.thats why cost is so jigh for surgery.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
