Good luck to everyone starting their journey! I'm just shy of four months out and I've lost 77 lbs. At 5'8", I was 325 lbs and now I'm 248 lbs. My surgeon is extremely pleased. No Hair loss yet. I hope it holds out!

That's awesome and inspirational! I'm 5'9 and 310 so we have a similar starting point. Are you exercising as well?

Thank you @@sleeveme77! I've been exercising three times a week since I was three weeks out from surgery (my surgery was April 6). I want to add a fourth day, but I think I'll wait until/if I hit a stall, and use the extra day to shake things up. I do cardio all three days and strength training on two of those days. Good luck! Your date is right around the corner!

Ladies I need help. My insurance denied my claim before I moved from Kansas (my height was recorded as 5'6 instead of 5'4 which changed my BMI) and I just moved to Rhode Island. I am scheduled for the group presentation on the 12th of August but, I am starting to get nervous. My sister has done her own "research" and has found at least one woman that cannot take care of herself 5 weeks post-op. Has anyone heard of such a delayed recovery? I keep telling my sister that the womans recovery is atypical but now I am worried. How long should I expect to be out of work and unable to drive? I don't have 5 weeks of time accrued.

@@Highdee215 I drove once I stopped my pain medicine...around Day 9 or 10. I initially took 3 weeks off from work and went back in 2.5...the second week was more fatigue than pain for me.

I am 50 and took one week off, never had pain or any issues. I am a slower loser but feel and look great. Good luck in your journey.

Most people I know are fine within 1-2 weeks. I was back to work in six days and I had a hernia repair, as well. Recovery was easy and I haven't had any problems. There are always outliers but I don't think you need to expect a five- week recovery.

@@Highdee215 I had FMLA for 2 weeks, the week of surgery and the week following. I only took pain meds twice, the night I came home and the afternoon after that. My recovery was pretty quick. I walked often while in the hospital and even more once I was discharged. I think recovery time is different for each individual. I was cleared to drive after 2 weeks. My process was rather quick.

@@Highdee215

I was taking care of myself on the 3rd day. I live alone and my friend had to return home.

5 weeks sounds like a lot of complications. It can happen to anyone but the chances are slim.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
