August post op sleevers: Check in

Recommended Posts

How much exercise is everyone able to tolerate at this point. My surgery was August the eleventh and I barely have the energy to do a little over a mile.

omg energy I barely have any it seems like I'm on a roller coaster one minute I'm up and then the next I'm down. I'm taking all the Vitamin I was told. I just know one day it will get better.

@@jelmore8312000 That is exactly how I am. My first week home after surgery was terrible. I completely wished I hadn't had it done. It was hard for me to do ANYTHING. I'm slowly getting better. I pushed myself hard today and made myself walk a little over 2 miles.... Now I am drained. I know it will get better with time so until then I am patiently waiting!

Well I am karen I was sleeved on 8/20 and have lost 17 lbs since surgery. Alittle down now seeing I have not lost anymore. Alittle disappointed that it hasnt been more. I am now on purée and I can drink without sipping but can't eat too much. The most I eat is 600ish cal and still in a stall as they call it. But still hanging in there and love the support here. ????

Hey everyone. I decided it was time for us to set up a post op section for the August folks. there are a lot of yu guys on here and I would like to be able to see how you are progressing. Any changes? Concerns? We can help one another.

I am day 9 post op and all is well with me. Trying to stay hydrated and sipping on the portein shakes. I am able to sip more now, thank goodness. I feel thirsty all the time. Even if I wake up in the middle of the night, I am sipping. My fisrt post op visirt is on the 8th and hopefully eveything will be good.

Later Losers!

I was sleeved on August 22nd. Everything is going smooth. Down 21 pounds, walking everyday eating pureed foods. My only problem is I don't feel full. I am only eating the recommended amount and food but just not full.

I'm stuck too ugh can't wait until this part is over. Good luck

I'm stuck too! 20 lbs the first week, then nothing for almost two! Is this normal? How long should it last? I'm so discouraged!!!

@@Karen Scott - I was told to just keep doing what we are doing. I've also been told that this stall is perfectly normal and to just be patient and the weight will start coming off again. So with that being said.... I am just patiently waiting for this stall to go away. I have been in it for about 2 1/2 weeks.

Hello All I was sleeved August 19th I'm down 17 pounds. I've decided only to weight myself once a week or go nuts. I lost 26 pounds pre op. My incision still bugs me so I can't swim like I want to just yet. Congratulations and good luck to you all.

Sleeved on 8/15/14 loss 12 pounds during the first week but have been stalled now for 15 days, needless to say I'm frustrated. I'm consuming anywhere between 600-800 calories a day and exercising 5-6 days/week. ????

I was sleeved 8/26. I feel better every day. I've lost about 10 pounds since surgery. Working on getting my stamina back. We're in the middle of moving this next week so it would be great to have more energy but I will try not to over do it!

I'm still struggling over not being able to eat, my heartburn and severe upper back pain. I'm still wishing I hadn't done this surgery. People keep telling me this is just the hard portion because of learning to adjust but it doesn't feel like it. Life just feels so hard. Hopefully this will get better.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
