Anyone want to be fat again?

Recommended Posts

I just didn't expect to still have to wear loose clothes to hide my saggy ass and back boobs! When u pair that with constant hunger having zero energy and tearing my ass every time I have to poop and my hair falling out so bad I'm going to have to wear a hat for the next year and becoming a social recluse cos I can't go out to eat anymore and can't enjoy food anymore loosing my boobs and the frustratingly slow weight loss only 50lbs in 7 months then yes maybe my expectations were too high

I think you need to see your nutrionist, some of these things dont make sense. I am less than 3 months into this and lost 65 lbs, my enegy level is up, i am not hungry, i am not constipate...yes i am losing my hair but if your hair lost has not stopped yet its a definite sign that you are missing nutrients. You didnt look good being fat, i promise you that, over the years uou have convince yourself of that...and now you have some mourning to do because reality is there and you are actuslly letting the miror return you the real image. I do understand that its depressing, i just went through a phase where i was questionning myself about the social aspect of food, we dont go out, family dinner eveery ni are never going to be the same, i cannot drink, and yes i do miss being bad and munching on the wrong things...i love to eat and now thats gone. But what you are going through right now is like when you break up with someone and you miss the sex, and you try to convince yourself it was a good relationship, and you hook up again only to find out that you really arent meant to be together....yes the sex is awsome, but the rest is crap and problems. Be free of the past

Good luck

I hope never to be fat again. No regrets about having gastric bypass, even after the complications of a bowel obstruction (surgically corrected) and Constipation. Life is never perfect but I find being at a reasonable weight makes everything easier. I am grateful for my surgery and my surgeon and would do it all over again, complications, pain, and all. My main challenge is now to maintain healthful food choices. At two years post op, I do crave foods that I thought I would never again crave so I must focus more on the willpower part. Gastric bypass has made it easier to maintain, but I know that it is not "the" solution. Eating properly and getting the right amount of activity are the solution and gastric bypass has increased my chances of long term success.

Wishing everyone success in the weightless journey!

Care to share what Protein powder that was?

Chike High Protein coffee. It contains the equivalent of two real espresso shots, so it replaces my morning coffee in addition to supplying 20 gr protein. I buy it on Amazon. I could never find a Protein Powder that I liked until someone suggested it. If I make it with Water and crushed ice in the blender it tastes just like a Dunkin Donuts Coffee Coolatta - delicious! My surgical team allows caffeine after three months because caffeine has been proven to help with Constipation. I've been using Chike protein daily since the beginning of April this year and have not been constipated even once since starting it. I don't know if it's the caffeine or not - but it works and I love the taste! :-)

Chike High Protein Coffee is also available in Mocha flavor. I find the mocha flavor too chocolaty so sometimes I use a scoop of each to change things up a bit. You could probably also use Torani sugar free syrups to add a 'flavor shot' - like Kahlua, French vanilla, caramel, or hazelnut to make it taste like your favorite flavored coffee. :-)

There is no way I would want to be big again.

I have sagging places all over yet I look good in clothes.

I'm happy that I'm here and able to do things that I was unable to do before.

My body is my body and I will exercise to help keep it fit but if I don't loose this sagging oh well.

I tell you a story I once died because of an error I made in quiting a medication cold turkey and I am lucky that I'm here to talk to you.

So be grateful for everyday and that you are loved no matter what.

The things you talk about can be fixed by changing some things in your eating and others don't add up to a hill of Beans if you are loved by family unconditionally.

Maybe you should talk to a therapist about your self image it might help.

May you find peace and happiness.

Good luck.

I have never had one regret over having decided to have WLS. Even when I had some complications, I still love my band. I have sagging skin but I would have had this anyway at my age (and after having kids). I don't hide my arms or my stomach...I feel so much better about my body than I did pre-WLS. I even wore a two-piece this summer, despite the little bee-sting scars from my surgery...I loved wearing that suit so much that it overrode any embarassment I might have had about the lapro scars.

Gosh, what a question. I think all of us went into WLS with so much thoughfulness...I can't imagine any of us regretting being thinner.

The surgery isn't about vanity; it is about health. Maybe you had the wrong expectations going into the surgery.

Ummm, maybe for you....................but I ain't gonna lie.............I was pretty healthy pre op, and I honestly went into

to look goooood! (The health benefits are a plus...but I love the way I look!)

At 55, and having spent 28 years being obese, I never had any illusions that I wouldn't have saggy skin. So for me it was a quality of life and better health issue. And as my daughter so bluntly put it "It doesn't matter what you look like mom - you are already married!" :-)

Though I'm saggy and baggy here and there, It's not as bad as I feared. Probably because, though my skin has lost elasticity due to stretching and my age, I have no wrinkles from sun-damage (I get sun poisoning so avoid the sun). And I don't have turkey-neck. My neck skin is tight and youthful-looking, probably a lucky genetic thing. :-)

My insurance will pay for skin removal if I get rashes due to excess skin. I always used to get rashes in the skin folds, so this summer I was ready to start documenting these with cosmetic surgery in mind. Wouldn't you know it? I didn't get a single bit of rash this summer?!!! The one time I WANTED it to happen... Lol

I don't miss being fat, but I can relate to the skin issue. I have wings and I am not interested in flying anytime soon. There are times when I just say, "hey, love me, talk about me or hate me, today, I'm gonna go sleeveless today." However, I'm not that confident when around work or family folk. I'm also not interested in more surgery when I reach goal...considering living with the skin issue but won't quite know until I get there.

Overall, I am extremely - ok, very happy with my choice. There are other mental issues that I go through that overrides the saggy skin thing right now.

I have to say, you are still pretty early out. I had surgery 3 1/2 years ago and I def look better now than at year one. My face looked haggard, my neck was more turkey than lady, and my thighs were creased. Now all three of these things are better, from exercise, Water and time. Give yourself a break, and worry about that later when you are really at the end of your weight loss and recovery.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
