Looking for Hamiltonians

Recommended Posts

Hi! I just joined today. I'm 41 years old, live in Ancaster and I'm in the preliminary stages of gastric bypass- research and referral. I'm looking for local women for support and information, preferably women who are going through or have gone through gastric bypass at St. Joe's in Hamilton. Is there a local group or anyone open to chat?

At this point I feel like I'm talking to myself but I will continue to do so in hopes that another Person having their surgery in Hamilton will see this. :) At this point, my Dr.'s referral to the Bariatric Centre is done. She planned blood work and a sleep study. Waiting to hear if OHIP approves me otherwise I'll likely self-pay. I'd love to connect with other Hamiltonians if you're out there.

Hello, I'm not from Hamilton but I'm not too far away. I live in Acton and am hoping to have the bypass this year. What procedure are you thinking of getting done?

Hello! I'm hoping for a gastric bypass. Early stages. I've had the referral and now I'm waiting for the orientation sessions. I have an apt for a sleep study but so far that's it. Where are you in the process?

I have to meet with the nutritionist next Friday and then hopefully they will tell me when I can meet the surgeon. I'm hoping to have the surgery by the end of the year but I think that's wishful thinking.

Let us know how the nutrition apt goes. Hopefully you'll see the surgeon soon. Have you done the psych apt? I'm curious how long from referral it took for you to get an orientation apt. I'm eager to start something! Lol

I believe my doctor sent in my referral in March and my first appt was in June. It's a very long process...

How did your appointment with the nutritionist go?

Hey! My brother lives in Brampton so I know it well! You've already had your orientation and you started in August too!? Lucky you! Hey, we'll have to compare notes since we're beginning the process at the same time. Feel free to private message me if you want. :) good luck on the atress test. THAT'S the only thing that really freaks me out. How sad is that? Lol the exercise concerns me. You mean I have to mooooove!?!? ;)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
