So my home scale has been reading 318 for several days now. I was so excited because I thought I had lost 67 pounds......uh no. I went and weighed at my surgeons yesterday and it was 330 - which is still 55 pounds so I am not complaining.

I need to just stay off the scale unless I am at my doctor's - I am starting to get a little obsessive about it.

Oh Dear!

How frustrating! There is a 7 pound difference between mine and my surgeon's scale. I wish I could stay off of my scale. I just can't!

But a general downward slide is what we're all looking for, right?

My "bad" day has turned into a bad few weeks. I have never really been a sugar/candy bar/sweet eater. Since this band, that's all I crave!

M & M's, chocolate and oreo Cookies. Don't get me wrong, it's not like i'm eating a ton of this stuff, maybe giving me 500/600 extra calories a week. but i've gotta stop!

I've been down to this weight before and this is typically when I give-up, start eating the crap again, and start gaining it back.

I can't say that I'm not restricted. I graze. A few soy crisps here, a couple bites of chicken there, half a meatball from the kids spaghetti, a cookie or two, a handful of chocolate chips. I need to get a handle on this head hunger thing, and FAST! My scale shows I've lost 2 lbs since my last fill on May 8th.

I see the Dr. again on Monday. I don't need a fill, I need a brain jolt to get my LB thinking back on track.

It just seems like the same old "diet" cycle again.

I have been trying to get in 10,000 steps a day on my pedometer but only accomplishing that around 2 days a week.

Somebody please kick my butt!

Turn it south toward Texas and I'll give it a kick. I don't know about you but I am a self pay and when I think of throwing all that money away I stay good. I just got off the phone with my beautician who had this done in January and is really down because of not loosing. I tried to give her a pep talk and hope she takes it to heart. As far as the scales go, if you weigh on the same scales and they continuely go down thats what counts. My scales is 5 #s lighter than the docs but when it goes down I know the docs will be going down too., I had my second fill yesterday and have felt fuller this morning than I have for a long time. When head hunger hits either drink fluids, Protein, or go do something that is not in the same area of the food. If possible get outside and walk or in my case pull weeds out of the flower bed. Good luck and I hope you get the head hunger under control.

Mary

These are my favorites! I love to give a good butt kicking!

Don't be that mom who cleans her childrens' plates by eating their leftovers. (Was that icy enough?)

Are you tracking your food? Do you know that grazing is the number one way to defeat your band? Sugar isn't going to kill you, there is room for it with the band, but you need to know just how much you're putting in your mouth. Track your food. You're hungry because you're grazing and not filling your pouch...or because you're not drinking enough.

Are you exercising? Aside form the pedometer what else are you doing?

What about drinking? Can you do some self-reinforcement, where you won't allow yourself to eat unless you drink so much Water?

You need to work with the tool that's inside your body. I mean your brain! Sure we don't want to have to think about this ,"ALL OF THE TIME" but it is way too soon to go on auto pilot and you are making some poor choices. So put the band rules back on the front burner and start working it.

Butt kicking over.

Much love,

I'm trying to do some arm excerises and peddle on the stationary bike peddles. I have both knee and hip problems so I'm limited some, but hoping it will get better with weight lost.

How is everyone doing? WOW...May is almost over and summertime is fast approaching. Juli, I will get our June thread started, but I haven't really thought about challenges. Exercise is pretty much standard. Everyone should challenge themselves a little further than they did this month. I was doing 30min exercise sessions, but I will bump it up to 40min next month. I struggled with the crunches this month and didn't meet my goal, but I will not give up so I will be doing the crunch challenge again. I think everyone doing their own personal challenge is better. Ask yourself...What am I struggling with? It could be Protein intake, Water intake, jogging, running, weight training, etc. Whatever challenge you choose, be sure to put it in your signature so we all can follow along. I think most of us like the name Marchies so I guess we'll stick with Marchies in June, but if anyone has any other creative thread titles to share, please do!

OMG Ladies and Gentleman, we have RESTRICTION!!!

I had my third fill today and my first and second slime/PB on water! I am freaking out a bit. I really thought they would take a bit out but they said because the barium swallow showed everything went right through I should be OK. They told me to go down to the cafeteria and try some Soup and then come back to the office. Well, no problems with the Soup.

Now, hours later its taking forever to get through a bottle of Water. Be careful what you wish for ... you might get it! 3.5 in 4cc band woohoo!

On the Cheetos addiction... baked Cheetos in the 100 calorie pack keep me sane.

Once again thanks to all the Marchies!

Denise

three for three is fantastic! You're a real gym rat now!

To answer what a person does for exercise this is my routine.

Monday through Friday I do cardio 30 minutes three times a week. The other two days a week I do 60 minutes of cardio. Most of the time it's on a eliptical trainer, sometimes I do the recumbant bike or the treadmill.

The same for weight training. Three days a week I do about 30 minutes and two days a week I do a full hour to an hour and a half of strength training.

(We have a rocking fitness center where I work, very close to the my office so I go everyday.)

On the weekends I go for a bike ride or to the pool on one day and I do nothing on the other day.

I have some muscles getting stronger under all this fat!

How about the rest of yous guys???

Hi Folks,

I Was Banded 3/20 And Have Only Lost 24 Pounds. However, I Quit Smoking On May 5th And Have Not Had A Fill. I Am Scheduled To Get A Fill On June 5th So I Am Praying I Can Get Some Restriction As I Am Hungry. I Am Not Being A Great Calorie Counter But Am Not Eating Near What I Used To Eat.

I Started At 258 And Now Weight 234. However, I Do Feel My Clothes Have Gotten Looser. I Am Down Nearly 2 Sizes. So I Feel Good About A Lot Of Things But Kinda Anxious About The Hunger.

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
