 HEY BANDSTAR, It's good to hear from you and it's good to hear you are doing better. My scale at home is screwy too so I refuse to get on it. I only weigh-in at the hospital and at the gym. I think your restriction is pretty good for now. If you go any tighter you may have trouble getting food down morning, noon and night. So, like Sopie said I think you should wait awhile.

Mrs. Husker, I'm sorry to hear about your port, but at least it's still accessible. I think that's what really matters.

Denise, the foaming at the mouth doesn't sound good. I was too tight after my second fill, but I never got to the point of foaming at the mouth. I decided to have some taken out because I was having trouble getting my Water in and didn't want to get dehydrated. Are you feeling any better today?

Karen, or should I say Superwoman!!! You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. You have so much going on and it seems overwhelming, but it sounds like you are handling it well and still able to follow the rules and stick to your goals. I commend you for that! :clap2:

Weigh-in last night and this past week I've lost 6 POUNDS!!! :)

NSV-I went jogging last night and as I was putting on my fanny pack, it wouldn't fit so I adjusted the straps as much as I could til I finally had to take the extender off. I have never worn that fanny pack without the extender and I don't need it anymore!!! It makes me feel like I'm practically a normal size person. I know it sounds silly, but I am proud!!!

WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!!!! :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Momlambert-You are amazing! What an astounding time you are having right now. Good for you for keeping food in its place.

Yanken-Salsa Rhythems class? Oh that sounds like fine. I'm sure your hips don't lie....

Denise-What cha' going to do about the foaming? Are you dealing or going for an unfill?

Sophie248-I'm fill less for at least the next four weeks myself. I'm trying to keep my head down and follow the bandster rules. Is your scale moving?

Catch you all later! I  love this board too.

OH Juli

hi sophie,

one thing that helps me alot since being banded is drinking the Water we are supposed to drink. it really takes the hunger away.

also just thinking that this isnt forever. once we get down to our goals....we can pretty much eat what we want in the right proportion.

keep the faith baby!

I went in for my 1st fill yesterday! NOT! Apparently my port has tilted. The doctor asked me to try and lose more weight and hopefully in 6 weeks he can feel it better and do a fill. If that doesn't work then he has to go back in and reposition it. Has this happened to anyone ?

What's the surgery like? Am I going to have to take more time off from work?

That is NOT the least bit silly! Congrats on the loss and the NSV. You are a great role model.

Thanks, everyone, for the kind words--you are the best! Sometimes, it seems to me, when we are in the middle of chaos, we don't realize how difficult it all is until we are able to look back and go, "Whew! We made it." Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. They are SO appreciated. We are doing fine. First daughter to arrive comes in a few hours--sheets are changed and I put a little pot of fresh flowers in her room. We are ready to PAR-TAY with her and her grandpa and the others when they arrive.

Oh, a funny thing happened (skip this part if you want--it's just me rambling--again). I asked this daughter who is coming tonight if there is anything she would like to request while she is here (meaning, of course, food because in our family FOOD IS LOVE). She's a tiny little thing--5'8" and 117 dripping wet). She said, well, you know, it's silly but I've been really wanting some meatloaf and baked potatoes, squash, biscuits, etc.--you know, Sunday dinner--because Matt (her husband who isn't coming until Saturday) hates meatloaf and squash. The funny thing is that I fixed that very meal on Sunday and had leftovers but had given my parents and another daughter each two big slices of meatloaf to take home and I didn't have any left. So, I called my daughter and they were just sitting down to dinner--leftover meatloaf. So I called my parents and they still have the meatloaf. Yippee! My husband is taking a little cooler up there today when he goes to sit with my Dad and packing up the two pieces of meatloaf to bring home for her. I still have potatoes, biscuits, and squash. So we are set and I don't have to cook again for tonight. Crazy! Well, like I said, FOOD IS LOVE and she will definitely know she is loved! LOL

Have a great day and thanks, again, for your support and well wishes. Karen

Sandy-

I didn't have the exact same thing happen, but I went in for a fill and was told I didn't need one because I was losing weight so well with out it.

I felt like I was being punished for being good. It's very disappointing to see everyone on here talking about their fills, ect and not really be able to relate.

But this is an individual journey and we do what we can, right?

I don't know what the port surgery might be like. But I've seen other posts where the people said it wasn't too bad.

And it looks like you are going gang busters with your weight loss, don't lose momentum.

We can check in with each other and see how things are going fill less (Phyllis) over the next few weeks.

OH Juli

In an attempt to figure out the picture thing I headed back to my very dusty blog. I was able to get a pic posted there, and I will add more...Still not able to figure it out here. Looks like you need to have the pics hosted on the web, not on your PC. I've signed up for Picasa...I'll get it figured out.

Unless someone more savvy than me can help out, then by all means, please do.

Thick Chick- Has got a new hair do and she's smokin'.

The blog by the way is http://lapbandaid.blogspot.com/ There you'll find my picture from September 2006. And some back story to this journey. And I hadn't touched it since fall, so there is some misinformation on it too. But I feel the itch to pick it up again....I've joked blogging is so 2001. (When I first started. Looks like I'll be eating my words. At least they are calorie free!)

OH Juli

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

      2. Selina333

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

      3. Doughgurl

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
