11 days postop, not feelin so hot

Recommended Posts

Hi all. I had gastric sleeve on july 28th. First few days home were fine aside from gas pain, but now I'm back to work and my body is starting to feel somewhat "normal" again (still achey), but my brain is all out of whack! I'm emotional, I'm tired, I'm cranky, and every time I take a sip of my damn Protein Shakes, I literally want to throw the stupid cup at the wall. I've lost over 25 lbs already, but to be honest, I'm having a really hard time celebrating that victory. I'm normally a very positive, happy person and I'm just wondering when I will stop feeling this way. Is this normal? Am I just "missing" food for comfort or do I have some postop depression going on? Saw the surgeon for follow up a couple days ago and he said just keep up the good work and you'll be just fine, but I REALLY DONT FEEL FINE! Starting to regret ever having put myself thru this. I need to know there is light at the end of this dark tunnel I'm lost in.

Yes there is. I'm two months out and I am back to normal. I have no pain and I can handle any and all foods I have tried. But for the fact that I can only eat very small amounts of food I would probably forget I had the sleeve. Hang in there we have all been where you are and it gets better every day. You got this!

Thank you for your support. My mom always says 'its all about attitude'. I just really think I need a fresh perspective. I need to focus on all the positive things this surgery has brought me, instead of the negatives. I'm so grateful that I've already successfully lost some weight. I'm proud of myself for having the courage to finally make a real and lasting change. I'm so grateful that everyday I'm getting healthier and stronger so that I can look forward to a brighter future for myself and my son.

Thanks again, guys.

Emotionally I was crabby for the entire week I was on purees. Thank god it was such a short phase in my plan. Once I was on soft solid foods my attitude went away. I think for a lot of people the liquid and puree stage are just difficult and make you crabby.

I felt terrible too. I questionned what I had done and thought I would lose it if I looked at another bowl of broth. You will get through it. I am nearly three months out and feel fine now although I wish I was losing faster. I cant do any exercise right yet as I had a really bad accident on July 1st and have to wait to mid september before I can get back to really activity or weights ect. I was losing really quickly before the accident and now really slowly. But still losing. Hang in there it will get better and it is the best thing you have ever done for yourself!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
