I'm new - Anyone from Kansas City area?

Hello. I've been lurking these boards for a few weeks now.

I have set up a consultation with the Weightloss Surgical Center in KS for May 9th. Here's the deal...

I KNOW my insurence will pay for it, the question is HOW MUCH. I have BCBS of KC (for Federal employees). I would like to know if anyone here is from the KC MO/KS area that has BCBS, and what Center did the insurence cover?

I would hate to pay $150 for my consultation at WTSC, just to find out they are 'out of network' or something.

Could you please help me out with this?

Thanks.

UPDATE!!

I GOT APPROVED!!!

OK, even though I KNEW I would be approved, I'm stillmore excited about this than I thought I would be! I'm trying to keep this a secret (only my 2 best friends know about it, and are SUPER supportive!) but now I feel like shouting it from the rooftop!!

I turned 30 two days ago. The whole weekend when I was out with friends (first a concert, then Dave & Busters) I kept lookig around me at all the thin people and thinking that will be me in another year or two.

The lady at the Weightloss Surgical Center said I'd possibly have my surgery within 2 weeks! ... But I'm going to Las Vegas May 28 (2 weeks from today) so it may have to wait until the week of June 4th. We'll see!

FYI to anyone with BCBS wanting to go to Malley....I went to his seminar a week or so ago and they said that they are not taking ANYMORE new patients with BCBS this year. Not real sure why, but what they said is that they are booked through this year for that insurance company.:cry

I want to have the surgery, but am very afraid of the long term problems. I have read so many things of people after 2-3 years having to have the band removed for one reason or another. I was ready to schedule, but now I am on the fence.
