going out to eat for the first time this weekend

Recommended Posts

So... long story but. My son is coming into town for my wife's brain surgery on the 11th. Our plan is to take them to a local pizza place to eat after we pick them up from the airport. (its really cool, good, and on the harbor here in SD).

So far, I have eaten all the components of the topping of pizza, I.E. cheese, marinara sauce, Tomato, etc...

Thoughts on just scraping the top off a piece and eating it so they dont feel self conscious about eating ifo me?

BTW, her tumor is beingn, it it just big and needs to come out. Prognosis is 100% recovery and only 2 days in the hospital

No advice as I am only 1 week post op, but I'm so glad to hear that your wife's prognosis is excellent and wish her a speedy recovery.

Thanks. Trying to be positive. The only real issue is that we wont know anythign about any long lasting effect or disability until after the surgery and the swelling goes down.

Feel better. Miso Soup broth saved me in the first week.

Many pizza places offer Pasta. Could you get that instead?

I haven't tried pizza yet. I'm hesitant to try new foods away from home in case I get sick.

I've done just that! Scraped off the toppings and eaten them but left the crust. Had grilled chicken with lots of veggies on the pizza instead of sausage or pepperoni. You can also get Canadian bacon. Some places will actually let you order a crustless pizza.

How did it go with the pizza? I think just eating the toppings was a great idea however you should worry about how other people make you feel too. It's great you try & make people comfortable but you should feel comfortable as well.

How's your wife doing? I had a brain tumor removed in 2008 it took about 2 months for me to get to feeling like myself. I wish I had the support it sounds like your wife has during her process.

The pizza went well. I have been having issues with vomiting randomly... one thing is okay one day, then not the next.

She is doing okay. Was in the ICU for 5 days, then home for 2 weeks. She has gone back to work, but is still having some issues with memory, vision, and stamina. Seems to be gettign better slowly. She is an MBA and has a fairly rough job (demanding) so she withers on the vine in the afternoons.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
