Sleeved in 8/2012, delivered baby 5/2/14... Help!

Recommended Posts

I everyone!! Can someone please help me!! I had my daughter in may and I had a hard time trying to eat while pregnant but steadily I was able to increase my consumption (the doctors were worried).. She just turned 3 months yesterday. I am still breast feeding her and plan to for a year (probably more) but I was hoping for any kind of direction, advice, food guide documents, etc,.. To jump back on my sleeve diet without compromising my milk supply or daughter's health.. My back is starting to hurt from the weight gain and loose abdominals and I'm scared if I don't start now.. I'll just never get back down. My lowest was 123 lbs (I want to be about 130), I'm 5"6 an currently weigh 158.0 lbs.

Congratulations on your new baby girl! Her well being is number one right now. Maybe look up how many calories you should be consuming to keep your weight at 158. I would use that as a base point to keep your baby healthy. They say you need a few more calories, I think 300 for the baby so if you stay at what it says for 158 you should not gain and may even lose a little bit. Take your daughter for walks and just enjoy her.

Congrats on the baby! I'll be honest I'm not overly helpful in the how you should eat for a baby category, but I did want to congratulate you on maintaining a healthy weight during pregnancy. I feel like if I was pregnant I would end up 100 pounds heavier all over again! Good luck to you! :)

It's been a long time since I had my babies, but from what I know about our post -op diet is that baby will appreciate the Protein and clean eating. Hopefully some other post-op mommies can help you out. Congratulations!

Thank you everyone:) oOo clean eating .. Good idea. Actually I got to 191 lbs at the end of my pregnancy. After one month however, I had dropped 30 lbs of that. I have been looking into the paleo diet. I'm too scared to do the post op diet because of Peyton (my daughter). That's also a good idea about the caloric intake. I wanted to do cArb restriction (no more than 50-75 grams) but again I'm going to speak with a doctor first.

I suggest you go to a bariatric nutritionist. They will have the knowledge to get you where you want to be and still have the calories for Peyton. Congratulations!

Well I had my children long before my sleeve days, but I was a La Leche member. What I remember was that once your milk supply is well established fluids are more important than calories in maintaining milk supply. Your body is fine mobilizing your fat stores to make milk. In females that is actually why we store fat so readily. Eating high quality foods rich in nutrients will improve the quality of your milk, but you don't need to be consuming lots extra calories unless you are underweight. Congrats on the birth of your baby and kudos for your decision to breastfeed your baby. Research has shown formula in infancy increases the risk of obesity later in life. Enjoy your baby!

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
