Sliming--UGH!

Recommended Posts

OK, so I've read a zillion posts about sliming, but didn't really pay attention because I've never experienced it! I was banded in August, and I went for my 5th fill on Wednesday. I started eating normal foods again yesterday. I slimed BIG TIME after eating a salad at lunch and then even worse at a restaurant last night. I finally had to leave. I kept going to the restroom to spit........UGH! What's up with that? Does it mean I'm too tight?? Will I always do this?? :paranoid

Wish I could help. I was banded on Jan. 18, 2007 and have been stuck/slimed about 3 times already. Each time was because of eating too dry of food too quickly. The first time it scared me....then I learned to just hang out at a sink or spit in a cup. If it keeps up with band-friendly foods you may need a slight unfill?!?!?!?! Have you been losing at a good rate without being as tight as you are now?

Now that you've done it, you might want to go back on liquids for 24 hours or so. If you're just sliming, not PB'ing, I'd do liquids for 24, mushies for 24, and see how it goes after that.

Now if you're doing it every 15 minutes like me, go get an unfill immediately!

Consider yourself bandster initiated? :)

salad can be hard for a lot of people especially with good restriction. Try eating slower, chewing better, and picking the best foods. If that doesn't work, you might be just a tad too tight.

Thanks for your responses. It is much better today. I brought home my chicken soulvaki from last night, and I ate it for lunch with no sliming!! Maybe I was just more careful?? I have been somewhat of a slow loser because I've never really had good restriction. I've lost 50 pounds since August, but I have 50 to go. I have started exercising though, and I've noticed the weight coming off MUCH faster!! Hope I never do the slime-thing again!!!!!

I was told salads as in lettuce and leafy vegetables are not band friendly.

I haven't slimed. I don't think I want to.

I eat a green salad with chicken salad on top almost every single day, and I had never had a problem before. Guess in 8 months, I have never had good restriction either!! Woo hoo! I love restriction!! LOL!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
