Protein shake taking for ever to drink

Recommended Posts

Had my surgery on Tuesday and today was my first day to drink my Protein. I started on my shake 4 hours ago and I still have 5 oz. left to drink. It is so hard to get down. I usually love the shakes, but this is such a chore. I drink a little bit of that and a small drink of Water to help it go down. Good thing I am getting 27 grams of Protein from this.

I am a newbie. My surgery is scheduled July 16th. I am nervous about this situation. So, I have done a lot of research. I am going to try a product called 'Protein 100'. It has 15 gms of Protein for every ounce. Has anyone tried something like that?

Just an FYI It has been said that ur body can only absorb/process 30 grams of protien at a time. So if ur drink has 15g per ounce then its a waste if u plan on drinking more than 2 ounces at a time. And after surgery when u go to ur mostly protien diet u will most likely get constipated. But good luck in ur journey it will all be worth it.

I'm scheduled for a sleeve on the 16th also. I'm starting to get a little nervous. I just ordered the Bariatric Advantage.

I am 5 weeks post op and still get full half way through my Protein shake. When drinking my shake I make sure to only drink that and nothing else because if you are drinking the shake and the Water, chances are you will get full a lot quicker because of the Water itself. Protein is always first.

When I was on a liquid diet for the first few weeks after surgery my program suggested the following:

On an even hour of the day drink 4 ounces of Protein shake

On the odd hour of the day drink 4 ounces of Water. Do this starting at 7am thru the day

I followed this for 3 weeks. I was able to get 32 ounces of Water and 32 ounces of Protein Shake in a day, hitting all goals for both

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
