Hey guys! I am 1 month post-op today!!! :) Can't believe its gone so fast! I am back to work and things are going well, slowly getting better. Still have an incision that is healing but not needing to be packed with gauze anymore so yay! My biggest hurtle this week is hunger. I thought the hunger was suppose to go away, I am scared that something is wrong. I went to support group last night and no one seemed to know what I was experiencing :(

  • Hey Pion - that will subside in next week or so - at least it did for me. Now I have to make myself eat cause I am never really hungry.

Hi. I'm new to the group and I live in London Ontario. My surgery date is Aug 16th...3 days after my 56th birthday. It takes a long time, here in Canada to be approved for this surgery. I have been going to classes, meeting with Dr.s, Dietitians, and Social workers for about 1 1/2 years now!!

I started drinking my Optifast drink just this past Tuesday and I have to drink it right up to surgery date. (3 weeks). The only other things I can have is clear broth, sugar free Jello and sugar free popsicles. I'm not really hungry but the smell of food drives me wild! Lol!

I just keep thinking about being thinner and healthier. If I don't lose the weight, I will be in a wheelchair within a year and also have Type 2 Diabetes. I am so scared about the surgery but I have an amazing Husband and a very supportive group of Family and Friends

Best of luck to all of you. It will be great to have people to talk to that are in the same life journey as I am! ????

The date is set...Aug 12th! Its been 7 months since my first appt...and here I am, scared, nervous and so excited. I'll be having hernia repair, bypass and gallbladder taken out in one shot. Anyone who had anything similar to those procedures, I'm super interested to hear of your recovery and how long before returning to work (though I realize everyone is different). I would love to buddy up with someone!

I am having Gastric Bypass on August 10th. I am nervous and a bit anxious! I know that God has led me to this decision. I have prayed about this for a few years. I thought that I was going to be on a liquid diet for two weeks before my surgery. I had my preop appoint last week and they told me just the day before to have liquids. Clear Liquids...

I cannot believe it is only 9 days away! I will be praying for you on your journey! I will keep you posted on my journey as well....

My bypass is scheduled for Aug 15th and my pre-op is Aug 11th. I am so excited!! I'm 53 and decided to do this about a year ago. Once I found the right surgeon who was covered by BCBS, I've spent the past 4 months fulfilling the nutrition and psychological requirements. Hard to get the appointments scheduled!

For the past 6 weeks I've been weaning off carbonation, diet soda, coffee, ice tea, wine, vodka, sugar and white carbs. I'm now on my required two week pre-op diet of 60-80 g of Protein and less than 20g of sugar and less than 60 g carbs. So far so good.

I finally feel like I'm ready to start life again! I can't wait to do all of the things I've been avoiding for the past 20 year!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
