JULY 2014 SLEEVERS GROUP

Recommended Posts

Sleeved on the 7th and lost 14lbs but also nothing the last couple days . How long did your doctors tell you guys to wait before exercising ? Trying not to get discouraged . I'm on the purée diet and I just can't do it . liquid tuna chicken and turkey just really turn me off. Anyone have any suggestions ?! I'm still on creams Soups but I have been tending to eat the chunks in the soups and not straining then (I'm bad)

I havnt read all threads but are u adding Protein Powder to ur Water, foods that it can be added in?? I have several scoops a day I add the unflavor to applesauce, soups, my ice tea, I'm making diffused water by adding strawberrys cut up, cucumber, mint leaves an just let it sit all day in fridge then add a teaspoon hee an there...or it in a cup of hot tea or my coffee in mornings. ..everything I can I add Protein. .hope this helps...I stalled about 4 days then all of a sudden it showed I dropped 4 more pds...I also use ketone stix to p on to see if I'm still burning. ..it helps me. ..:)

Hi, my name is Misha, and I was sleeved on July 10, 2014. So far so good but very weak and nauseous from the liquid hemoglobin I have to take. Very weak, too. Strangely, foods taste different and I don't like the taste of most of my previously loved foods. Glad to hear that I am not alone experiencing these symptoms. Add me on facebook: facebook.com/mbrg1970.

I was sleeved on 7/14 and feel pretty good. I will get odd back pain right around my diaphragm area. Anyone know if this is gas or spasms? Would like to take the right meds.

Hi! New to BP. I was sleeved 7/10/14. I have been blessed with having an easy time. My only issue at this point is fatigue. I can easily get 80-90 oz of fluids and the same in grams of Protein in a day. I will not say "only" but I have lost 6 lbs since surgery. I expected a little more but if I were dieting I'd be happy, so I'll take it. I have lost a total of 13 inches so far. Yay! I try to walk 30 minutes a day.

I like Unjury chicken broth.. and they delivered within 2-3 days... although after 10 days it is getting old. :)

Hello! I am a 7/14/14 sleever... not loosing anything for the past 4 days stinks.
I will just keep drinking and trying to get in the Protein.< /p>

Yes I'm definitely in the the same place I've been trying to get as much liquids and protein in as possible but of course the protein is horrible and I can't seem to get down a whole bottle of anything with it in it I'm even trying that unflavored protein they gave me in the hospital but I don't kno what to do as far as that's concern

Not sure where you are in eating phase. I am in puréed. One of my favorite go to protein foods is sugar free/fat free instant pudding with two scoops of my vanilla protein powder and 1/4 cup PB2 powder. It s really good and very satisfying.

Lakemama, you can put the unflavored powder in anything to add Protein. I added it to Soup, yogurt, applesauce, and pudding. The one I have seems to make everything but the soup more of a liquid, so I added a tiny bit of skim milk to the soup to make it the right consistency. I could not do my fusion shakes after surgery and they had been fine before. Found I could handle the premade shakes a bit better especially when cold. I just sip them similar to Water over a long time; took it my purse to a movie and keep it in my car when I drive to sip more protein.

Hello! My surgery was 7/7/14. My high weight before beginning. The preop diet was 266, day of surgery was 251, and current weight is 239. All in all it has been pretty good started on my soft easy to chew Proteins like canned meat, Beans and cheese. food doesn't taste the same, I am never hungry and when I eat I am so focused on eating slow, chewing, and not hurting my stomach it has become more of a chore than enjoyment. Also it is hard to get the Protein you need in. Exercising is going great, just surprised I have the energy:)

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
