When Does Fatigue & Weakness Go Away?

Recommended Posts

I get really weak and tired. I'm 2 weeks out as of tomorrow. It's easier for me to walk up and down steps but trying to pick up stuff or hold it that's 10 or 15 pounds is tiring and I just don't have the strength. I'm getting Protein & calories. I'm taking my Vitamins.

So has anyone else felt weaker and how long did it take to pass

I will be three weeks out tomorrow. I went back to work yesterday and I have a desk job. I am exhausted as well. I have gotten to where I take a nap at lunch to be able to make it through the next four hours. I did hear that it does take a while for the strengthening energy to come back. I do a walk in the morning due to the fact that it's too hot during the day.

Hang in there I hear it does get better.

Your body is going through a huge change and shock. Give it time, I started having energy around 4 weeks but 6 weeks it got even better when I could go on solid food.< /p>

When you eat proper food, you'll feel much better.

For me, once I'd got the hang of knowing when I was hungry versus thirsty- and just how much Water I now needed to feel 'well'... I'd say I felt 'normal' at the four month mark.

The feeling 'a bit better', I'd say the 8 week mark.

Hang in there, treacle, it will get better.

Some of the tiredness and weakness is simply due to the fact that your body needs to heal after major surgery. I am 3+ weeks out and feel almost back to normal - just walked the typical walk (1.5 mi) that I was able to do before surgery - yea! Try to pack as much Protein into your diet as you can, as those make the most important calories you take in and will be the key to healing as fast as possible. Remember not to overdo the activity/exercise - I had a scare a few days ago picking up my friend's 16 yr old dog who kept falling over during a walk - and was really sore for several days afterward - thought I had a hernia!

I don't think you are supposed to be picking up anything BDM. Please be careful with this. 10-15 lbs. might hurt you. Not sure of the time frame after surgery but seems like about 6 weeks. As far as the tiredness it could be the heat, or a number of things. I felt like the weight of the world was off my shoulders within 2-3 days and had more energy than I do now, 8 months out, but I am getting ready to plan some exercise. Best of luck to you.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
