Thank You for posting this.. I am struggling with the clear liquid and Protein shake diet before surgery.. I was so hungry today, my belly was grumbling.. Reading this makes me believe the struggle will really be worth it...

I was sleeved July 1, 2013 by Doctor Rayford Kruger at Tobey Hospital in Massachusetts. Here's my official before/after pic, with my stats for both the day of my surgery, and my one year surgiversary. It's mindblowing to me that not only am I NEVER again going to shop in the Plus Size section of any store, but I will willingly step in front of a camera, while wearing a bathing suit. Who is this person?!

I have absolutely NO regrets and consider this surgery to have been a total success. For the first time in decades, I'm proud of the way I look and how hard I fought to achieve it, with my sleeve's help. Happy Independence Day, indeed!!

It's going to be FAR more worthwhile than you can imagine right now. Before surgery, I really thought, "well, I probably won't make my goal, I'll just be happy to make it from size 22 to size 14, if I can..."

A year later, I now KNOW that I have a lot of control over how far I go! I would GLADLY do my surgery over and over again--I feel that it turned out exactly as my surgeon told me it could. All good, all worth it--and you if I can do this, ANYONE can!!

You look great Vixynne. I am waiting on my approval. Dr Kruger is my intended surgeon as well. Can't wait to post my post op pictures next summer.

Hiya, Twinmommies! I hope you get your approval quickly, waiting is the hardest part. Have you met with Dr. Kruger yet? He's a great surgeon--but he's not exactly "warm and fuzzy" in his personality, LOL. As one of my friends who's also a Dr. K patient says, his hands are what matters, not his personality. He's all business--and he definitely knows his stuff. I have been seeing his nurse practitioners for follow up appointments, and they're awesome!

Yes I've met him once, he laughed at after reading my occupation was a" Domestic Goddess". After that he was all business. I'm not too put off by his shortness. I have one appointment with him before my pre open appointment which is weird since my insurance approval hasn't been sent yet. Guess that's how southcoast works.

Oh, I agree, I definitely have no complaints about Dr. K or Southcoast Bariatric--great program and great doctors. Keep us posted on your progress, you Domestic Goddess! ;)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
