Oh my I am one week post op and it has been a journey. I don't know how much I have lost because I refuse to get on the scale, but I do have my post op appt. in the AM to have my staples removed.. I stayed one extra day in the hospital because of my blood pressure. I was okay by the time I came home late Friday night. I felt pretty good. I was able to get my liquids in. However, since yesterday I have slowed down. Feeling weak and lightheaded. Having a hard time getting all my liquids in but I do get at least 32 oz in... I don't have the energy to walk so I haven't been outside. I'm trying to walk around indoors. I am taking Vitamins, and trying to get as much Protein as I can. I am on the full liquid diet, so I am drinking a variety of zero calories drinks, powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken broth, Tomato juice (who knew I would enjoy that:-), Protein Drinks, I also have SF Jello & pudding as well.. This seems like a lot and was doing good but I am having stomach pains that I thought was gas but now I think it's hunger pangs...OMG!!!! These pains wake me up in the middle of the night. Anyway, I wish everyone well on their journey and remain hopeful that this too shall pass!!! I wanna go sit on the "losers" bench in the winners game ...lol I will post my weight loss after my weight in tomorrow (although I still feel bloated)...

Had my surgery this morning! Feeling pretty good... I've been having some ice chips, and I've already been up to the bathroom a few times and walked down the hall. I am scheduled for an upper gi in the morning... Thanks everybody :-)

I hear you I was sleeved on Monday and did great in hospital no nausea gas pain or anything now after one night home I am feeling icky my tummy is gurgling like crazy I've already had a real loose bowel movement twice and the last thing I feel like doing is drinking anything tho I did force myself to have some Protein shake and now Water. I try and lay down to sleep and just feel so uncomfortable.

Had mine yesterday. It took forever to get out of the hospital. I have eaten broth, Jello, and some New whey liquid Protein.

I also had a hiatal hernia repair. I have hiccuped and that was straight up painful. However, ultimately I have had little pain. The gas pains are a bitch, but walking and more walking helps.

I am an itchy mess. I am happy that I got this done. I do want to try to chug Water, but my body will not have it.

They sent me home with a leg compression pad system. That thing is awesome. It reduces the risk of blood lots. I highly recommend this equipment.

Good luck to all of the remaining sleevers in August!!!'

Today is post-op day 9 and I'm feeling so much better. Still only getting about 32oz of liquids, barely hitting my Protein goals, and tire quickly, but my pain has almost gone away. I have slight aching in my upper abdomen and my incision sites are itchy, but I can move around better and am finally able to lay on my side comfortably to sleep! Can't wait till I can sleep on my belly again, but it's a start and I'll take it!

Hi My sleeve was Aug.11 as well. Things are going good. Very hard in the first week! Was unable to eat much of anything, diet popscicles have been my life saver. I could only eat 1/4 of a half of one to start. I have not been able to tolerate any crushed medication so no pain meds since day 2. But it is getting better every day and I am down 12 pounds! Hope everyone else is doing good!!!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
