If you're having trouble stomaching the pre-op Protein Shakes, try blending the shake with ice in a blender. Fuller consistency and it is more like a smoothie. Plus, ice keeps you hydrated!

I had the worst time trying to pee in a bedpan as soon as my surgery was over. I swear I tried for like 4-5hrs. As soon as they unplugged me so I could leave recovery and go up to a room I went into a bathroom and it was sweet relief.

Finally on liquids today. Onto the 3oz part of the 4x4. Should be leaving tmrw AM.

Pain is at a 2-3, 4 at the worst. I had nausea only once. I've been walking to try to get this gas bubbly feeling out. They have me orange Jello 3x it's the worst flavor ever, that made me feel queasy. I told my parents to bring me another flavor. And I keep falling asleep and they keep taking my broth and tea lol. I've been drinking mostly Water it's fine.

Incisions don't look too bad, one was more swollen than the rest but my surgeon said it's bc that's where they stitched into muscle.

So far so good.

Hope everyone else has a smooth surgery and recovery.

Xo

Surgery went great this morning. Had some decent pain earlier and was using my PCA, but now it's tolerable without it. Only been nauseated twice today. First time was after the incentive spirometry and the second was when I sat at the side of the bed for the first time. Much better feeling tonight and boring to go home tomorrow :-)

I am having such a hard time not cheating on my pre op diet I'm so ashamed

Me 3. I actually cheated and had a piece of cheese. So I am even more ashamed. The sad part is that I can go all day without even thinking slot l about food but now that I restricted, I am having a hard time. Tomorrow is a new day and I'm sure I will be okay. The slip up helped me because I feel so bad that I don't want to slip up again. Good luck you guys!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
