6 days post op and wisdom tooth!

Recommended Posts

So I'm 6 days post op and Im feeling very weak. I don't have the urge for Water, Protein , broth or anything! I have thee worst wisdom tooth pain ever that is not allowing me to sleep. I've lost 16lbs since surgery last Friday and I just feel that is way too much. No wonder I feel drained! I'm really unmotivated for anything right now, as the incision pain was subsiding the tooth pain just barged right in! It's horrible! Any suggestions for pain control!?

I'm 4 days post-op and am feeling so weak I can hardly believe it. For me, vegetarian broth is the only thing I can get down. I can't bend over because of the incisions, so of course I keep dropping things on the floor like there is no tomorrow.

Get to a dentist before you progress to an abscess or something. Teeth are nothing to mess around with.

Did your surgeon send you home with any pain meds? liquid tylenol with codeine.....that is what my surgeon prescribed for me post op, it should help with the tooth pain. Maybe your surgeon or your dentist can give you a script for it.

Yes I'm going to be asking for that. I was prescribed tramadol and it's working for my incision pain just not for my tooth ache!

I don't know what to tell you about the tooth pain...it's probably coincidental and you should see your dentist...

but for the other... please remember that y'all just had MAJOR surgery! You may have just a few scars on the outside, but inside, you look like Frankensteins monster (my new favorite saying)... you need time to HEAL.

After major surgery you are also tired from the drugs you had in the hospital, anethesia, etc... it takes a few weeks for that to wear off, and you will feel like yourself again...it DOES get better, honest.

Be sure to do whatever you can to get in your liquids, staying hydrated is paramount! If cold Water doesn't go down, try room temp or a hot beverage, sometimes that is more soothing to the palate/tummy. And be sure you are taking your B12, now and for forever...this will help your energy level.

So, relax, do what you need to and it will all fall in place shortly.

Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
