Ninja Ultima, Ninja Mega Kitchen or NurtiBullet?

Recommended Posts

Trying to decide on which blender to choose of these, Ninja Ultima, Ninja Mega Kitchen or NutriBullet. The Ultima has the most power at 2.5 hp (1500 watt) and is available on sale for $194 ($65 off), The Mega Kitchen has a 2 hp motor (1500 watt) and runs $199 but has more accessories (not sure I need them) and the NutriBullet is most compact with a 900 watt motor. Any suggestions?

I have the NutriBullet and love it. It is so easy to set up, use, and clean up. I can make a smoothie and clean it all up in one minute. It is powerful enough to blend up carrots with little effort, but I admit to using it much more for softer items so i can't vouch for how long the blades stay sharp with regular hard veggie use. The cups travel easily.

It is time efficient, easy to use, and does the job.

Just checking in on what you plan to use it for? (Protein smoothies, etc?) I spent about $150 on one of these pre-op, thinking I would use it post-op, and never used it a single time! it's in my garage sale pile now. I guess it all depends on your plans for meals in the first 6 weeks or so after surgery (seems like every surgeon's plan is different in this regard), but I was on liquids for a few weeks and never used a blender other than the hand/shake blenders I'd been using pre-op. Between the RTD shakes, my broth and other shakes, I ended up not needing any kind of specialized machine. Once I moved to mushies, I still didn't need a blender. That being said, if you plan to juice, or get really creative with the drinks, a blender like this might come in handy. Just some "food" for thought! :)

I have the small Ninja, that has 3 containers, and the nutribullet - which was great for the liquid stage but doesn't do ice well. Ninja

I had a NutriBullet & sold it to a friend of mine. I really didn't care for it & it leaked. I ended up buying the Ninja & love it. I got it on either HSN or QVC but you can get them in stores. I bought the $45 one & it comes with 1 large mixing container (about 43 ozs) with it's own blades & 2 small (16 oz size) comtainers with their own blade. What I like is that the blades are not just on the bottom but the large blade has 3 levels & the small blade has 2 levels of blades. Check this one out. There is no sense in spending over $100 for something if you are just using it for smoothies, Soups, etc. This little Ninja does other things such as chop so it's pretty versatile. I think you will like this product. It cleans up easy also. BTW - the blades are extremely sharp so be very careful. Ninja has put warnings everywhere concerning the blades. I take a blood thinner so I am extra careful around sharp objects. I hope you find what you are looking for & I wish you much success with your Sleeve.

Thanks for the replies. I was leaning towards the Nutribullet, mainly because it is more compact, but am still undecided. Since I'm looking for a blender to do mostly single serve Protein drinks with fresh vegetables and/or fruits so it sounds like the Ninja or Nutribullet would work for me.

At one point I felt a kick butt blender/juicer would be a good investment to go along with getting a sleeve. Now going on week 4 post op I see very little use for one. High calories liquids are a big No No to be successful. Once I got past the liquid phase of post -op I found no need for a blender. Protein has been easy to get in daily by eating ground and deli sliced meat, eggs and some dairy. My Protein Shake days are over. Unless, you have problems with eating solids save you money and purchase some other kitchen toy. I have found a vegatable spiralizer a great tool along with an egg poaching pan. Huevos Rancheros using poached eggs and no tortia is now my favorite Breakfast. Beats the hell out of a protein shake or smoothie.< /p>

Might be good advice, par1959. I probably won't buy until I'm Post-Op anyway and would probably use it only with fresh vegetables and fruits after having to use Protein supplements during the first few weeks. Thanks for the advice.

I have the Ninja Mega Kitchen System and love it. I must admit that using it to make icy drinks really help to cool me down from hot flashes. It "turns them off" after only a few sips.

I look forward to the day when the Protein Shakes are behind me, but will still use it in cooking for large groups like family holidays and feeding the multitudes at church.

Par1959, please share with us how you get all

80 gms of Protein in without the shakes. We travel frequently, I keep the shakes handy, but I am only 7 wks, 6 days out. Had my first experience trying food at a convention as instructed by my Dr.; but felt so guilty eating "normal " food with no stats to record by actually measuring them myself. Almost panicky. Can't eat at home always; must learn how to chose; and I think I did well, but it's out of my comfort zone. Need to be successful so badly.

I can't seem to figure out how to use my little ninja to blend drinks without intruding copious amounts of froth which fills my sleeve too quickly. The ninja only has the single speed so perhaps the other blenders night work better.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
