10 lbs in 1 week - way to go! I had my pre-op physical at 4 days in and had lost 6 lbs. Guess they know what they're doing with prescribing this pre-op diet stuff, huh? I am still shocked at how the switch flipped at Day 3. Everyone said it would get better then - and exactly right. The headache and hunger and shakes went away. What I wasn't prepared for is what started on about Day 3. The obsession about food. The craving for "one more time" with a certain food. Sounds silly but it was consuming my thoughts. I find myself driving by a restaurant and having to say to myself, sometimes literally aloud, "I don't need you." Ahhh....hence the decision for surgery.

Three days before surgery. I am a bundle of nerves. More so about work and getting everything handed off before I leave.

I need to get my bag packed for the hospital. I have the basics but wondering if there are any 'special items' that anyone can recommend I pack. I have a two night stay planned. My husband can always pick up anything I may have missed.

Breathe. Exhale.

I would pack a heating pad, unless you are sure the hospital has them on hand. That's the one thing I really missed having. I had shoulder pain, which they said was common when anesthesia has been used. For some reason, I have read a lot of people have had gas pains in their shoulder. I had a drain, so until that came out, my left shoulder really ached.

Otherwise, I just took two very loose fitting outfits...the one I came in wearing and one for the next two days. You'll most likely be wearing your gown for most of your surgery day, so you don't need anything more than an extra outfit...if even that.

So happy for you. Good luck and can't wait to see you next week on the 15th.

Chapstick. I would have been so sad without Chapstick. I brought a lot of things I never used. Keep it simple. I am so excited for you!

I bought myself a soft, long, robe with a zipper up the front and warm socks. I always get cold in the hospital and I wanted to be covered when I walked around.

I didn't bring a lot. But I definitely recommend bringing a robe and Chapstick!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
