Australian Bandsters Chat Thread

Recommended Posts

HI guys, havent't checked in for a while as I have been unwell- i have been in and out of hospital over the past few weeks thansk to a relapse of my MS- Idid actually make acouple of posts a while back and responded to a few on the board and never recieved any aknowledgement at all- I must stay that I felt as if I had been given the cold shoulder as I was looking for some support at tough time.

glad to see that everyone is doing well, the new thread is a good idea and seems to be avoiding all that obnoxious spam that had crept in. I think it is a good idea that it is a general Aussie thread rather than specific states.

Hi Karen, I'm sorry to hear you've been having a tough time with your MS lately. Are you feeling better now? Your weight loss is looking awesome!!

I'm sorry about your posts that got missed on the other thread. I think its hard catching up on all the posts when you haven't checked in for a couple of days/weeks, so I most certainly don't think it was intentional that anyone didn't specifically reply, but I do apologise all the same.

Welcome Jewelis56 - Congrats on making this decision - it's a big one but one I wish i had made many years ago. 8 months post banding I am now buying off the rack and yes it is a wonderful experience, but still hard to get the head around, I keep thinking I am bigger than i am.

All the best for your op and make sure you stay around.

Tarajane, I am the same! I walk past some of the more trendy sorts of young womens shops and wonder if I would fit into anything from there yet. I think in another 5 kilos I might go in and see, maybe an XL will fit me by then! I squeezed into a pair of hipster urbane jeans I had from a few years back yesterday that are a 16, so I was pretty happy about that!

I am feeling a bit better these days but still not working and definatley struggling a bit with the ms. I had thought that perhaps I had annoyed someone since my posts just seemed to get overlooked - I have not posted for the past couple of weeks simply because I had little energy and postedf on a board that did give instant support. i was sad though as you guys are more local. As long as i had no caused offence to anyone, i guess that is the main thing

Thanks for all your replies of support. I swim every day and was wondering how soon after the op I could start back. Does anyone have any idea?

Karen, I am very glad that you are feeling a little better. I must admit prior to meeting you guys with MS on this board i was a bit ignorant to the details of the illness. But having done some research on it since then, I really applaud you guys for dealing with it, and addresssing your weight problems at the same time. My hat off to you all.

jelewis56, I'd say you'd probably have to wait until the scars are no longer scabby and are healed over. This is one you might have to ask your surgeon about. You should be right to physically do it almost immediatey if you feel up to it, but you don't want to compromise the healing process of your incisions, so a quick call to your surgeon is probably your best bet!! I wish I could swim - I can't it irriates my severe eczema. oh well.

Hi everyone

I have just returned from a weekend away on an island, walking along the beach, wine glasses of Water and candlelit dinners consisting of 1/2 cups of food..lol romance post lap band lives on... How ever I must provide my first confession...I ate a cherry ripe today...but I ate it slowly if that means anything..lol. Oh well i have been at the gym every day so lets hope it will not do permamnent damage. It is so hard waiting for your first fill and not having any restriction. I also flattened my diet coke so I could drink something other then water, that was successful.

Hope everyone has a great week

cheers

Hi all... Im going for my second fill tomorrow. I only have 2mls in a 6ml band and i think they are putting in 1ml tomorrow. I really hope this does the trick as my weight loss has really slowed down and i dont have very much restriction. Hope everyone is doing well.

Hi all

Bronnie good luck with your fill today, I had a fill of 2ml on Tuesday and it was to much I couldn't even swallow my own saliva so I had to go back for a unfill that night to get 1ml removed it was such a releif but my restriction is pretty good now I can't even eat half as much as before.

Where has everyone gone??

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
