Looking forward to time off after surgery

Recommended Posts

I think my problem is that I am so used to doing everything and being there for everyone that it is very difficult for me to not be able to help and to do things. Maybe if I could have kind of had my time off in a little house by myself I would have enjoyed it more? But when you have a child and there are things going on that you just can't do, well I felt guilty for not being able to do what I usually do. It all worked out and my daughter actually adapted really well and was very compassionate towards me.

I think it's a mom thing!

I totally understand. I'm a mom as well, of two boys. My husband is definitely going to have an experience on his hands. Luckily I have amazing support from my family and friends that can pitch in and support him while I am down. Definitely going to be a transition going from doer to downer. LOL! Best of luck to your success!

Still too early to know a due date, but I am hoping to join it with the birth of my 2nd child. Put paternity leave and surgery at same time and take a few weeks off. I was NOT planning on telling my co-workers about my surgery. (I am pretty closed book about most personal matters....)

Sneaky! That sounds good - I hope you've got family members who can help out though. That's a lot for one family to take on at one time.

Wait... You are having surgery right after your wife gives birth? Woah. I don't think I could handle that. You are a brave man.

Good luck to you! You might think about freezing a bunch of meals for them if your husband isn't into cooking. It's really hard to be around food after surgery. I am lucky that my husband is a good cook. I don't think I could have been around food so much.

Oh how I wish I could take weeks off!! I'm a single mom, and just a manicurist who works for herself. If I don't work, bills don't get paid! So I'm having surgery Friday and back to work the following Wednesday - so Cupcake I'm happy to see you feel great after 4 days!! My days are slightly lighter the rest of that week (6 clients instead of 9). I will keep my Protein next to me and sip ALL day and make sure I have those gas x strips nearby if needed. Hopefully I'm good to go and they give me the good drugs to get me through. I know I'll be so ready for that weekend! Luckily my 6.5yr old is crazy easy. I get home too late to cook most nights,so she actually has tv dinners quite often (they calories aren't super high and not much frankenfoods in it, so I'm ok with it). Will make it much easier on me not to have to cook right away since I'm not eating it anyway!

I AM looking forward to the day before surgery at the hotel pool :) and the 3 days in the hospital. Hopefully I recover easily and at least can enjoy the last on those days before flying home. Surgication here I come!

I may do it before or after by a week or two in either direction. My mother-in-law will be coming to visit for a few month for the birth of our child so there is another body to help around the house. I feel I can just suck it up and take it. I typically heal fast from ailments. of course family first. I will follow the judgement of my surgeon.

My surgery is on June 5th and I am looking forward to the time off work too! I don't feel guilty at all! I get to focus on my new start and all it's changes. I am really so excited! I watched a full gastric sleeve surgery on YouTube last night. I also love coming on here to learning and relating to others on the same journey as I am. This is a life changing time for us all and I don't think we should feel guilty for taking time out for ourselves and our health!

3 months! I wish - my job max is 6 weeks. Which I think that will be good enough for me. I know I am going to get cabin fever for sure. LOL!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
