Tubal ligation and gastric sleeve surgery

Recommended Posts

In doing more reading on gastric sleeve surgery I have come across some posts regarding not being able to have the surgery if there is too much scarring.

That said I had a tubal ligation in 1986 and wondering if anybody has had gastric sleeve surgery that had a tubal ligation?

I did call the Doctor's office and they said if it was just a small scar probably wouldn't be a problem.

Just trying to get actual cases.

Thanks!

Me...was never even mentioned to me that it might be a problem. I had also had my gallbladder removed a year before my sleeve surgery. No issues,

I actually had one 2.5 yrs ago it is actually in your favor if you have one. Bc the surgeon doesn't have to worry about you getting pregnant to soon after the surgery and having a sick baby. And on that note I had my surgery five months ago so it was just two year's after my tubeligation.

Your ovaries are nowhere NEAR your stomach. I mean seriously that would have to be some really in-depth scar tissue. There's a whole mess of intestines between your ovaries and stomach!! Where did you read this?

I think the only scarring in this case that could be a problem

Is of it had been done laparoscopically. But I've had four previous surgeries laparoscopically and I had no issues with my scarring

Both my tubal ligation and gallbladder removal were laptascopic and no issues

I do know the areas are not close inside the body!

But was just concerned since I do have a small scar in my belly button.

Since I am self pay I didn't want to go through all the time and expense if it was going to be an issue.

Oh oh I didn't realize it was the laparoscope scarring you were worried about.. No, still they'll find other sites for the scopes and tissue removal - they don't use the belly button at all.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
