I actually didnt have time to do that or I am sure I would have. I went to surgeon and same day got my surgery date for two weeks later so I had to start on the pre op diet the VERY NEXT DAY!!! BUT, I am sure I would have been eating EVERYTHING in sight if I would of had time too!!! I am sort of in a morning phase of food right now...:D Like...hmmm wonder if everyone else will be healthy and not me because they are shoving food in their mouth and I wont be able to....and then reality sets in..NO I will be the healthy happy one...just SMALLER!!!:heh:

I don't know how i am going to do it, especially at work. Everyone is always ordering out... BUt good for you for sticken to your plan...makes me wonder why we can't stick to a plan when their isn't surgery to motivate. Why can't just being healthy be the motivation. Obviously these are answers that i don't have and have not been able to lose weight any other way and god knows i have tried...oh, by the way, are you not allowed to drink broths? My doc, is letting me drink broth with the protien added to it as well as the shakes and anything else that is liquid that i can add the powder to.:D

This is my first post on here- so I hope I am doing this right... but I totally feel your pain. I don't have an exact date yet, but I keep thinking about all the things that I may not be able to eat again. I don't know why I seem to think that I will just die if I can't have whatever it is I happen to want that day. But it is comforting to know that I am not alone on this one! :faint:

Everyone,

You know what I think it is that we are so afraid of? I think that if we can't use food as our comfort anymore, we feel out of control and NO ONE wants to feel out of control. We are going to have to do some real soul searching to figure out what it is that is going to replace our friend. You know I quit smoking a few months ago, and that was easier than this is going to be because I don't have to smoke to live. I know when I lost mega weight (65 lbs) on Atkin's a few years ago, my comfort became exercise...omg, exercise? Every time I now think about it, I have to admit I just shudder. But looking back on that year it was true. I looked forward to my evening program of running and weight training. It felt so good to not let food control me any more. Isn't that ironic? On the one hand I don't want to lose the control I have over food, but really it is the food controlling me! HMMM...maybe I'm on to something. Talk amongst yourselves...

Have an AWESOME Thursday!!

Peace Out,

T~:hippie:

This is actually one one of the hardest parts of getting used to being banded. Undoing all the crazy thinking we used to have.

I HAVE to eat (and a lot) every single day to be healthy. Fact: We aren't going to die if we go a few days without food. Do we want to do that all the time? Of course not. But the reality is that if we go for a few days without food we WILL survive.

I HAVE to eat because I'm sick. Fact: No we don't. Why do we need to eat if we are sick? We have stores of Vitamins, Proteins, etc. We need to DRINK when we are sick with a fever, etc.

I HAVE to have 1200 - 1500 calories a day or I will be too tired to function. Fact: Fat is stored energy. I eat 600 calories a day and do just fine. Many bariatric docs suggest 800 calories daily. After you get your BASIC nutrition in, the rest of the calories are to maintain chubby fat cells.

And the list goes on... :(

I have been on Optifast for the past 2 weeks (1 more to go) and the thing I have realized is that I don't think I even know what physical hunger is!! It's always head hunger telling me what to eat and when and how much but I have completely lost touch with my own body.

I think this will be my biggest lesson to learn.

I understand what everyone is saying....I want to eat everything in sight but my insurance says I have to lose 5% before I can submit for approval. I have till July 1 to lose the 14lbs....last night I had McDonalds and feel terrible about it and I only ate a freakin chicken sandwich. I am just terrified I won't drop the lbs before they submit....I HAVE TO!! I guess if it wasn't for this, I would be 20lbs heavier by the time I do have surgery....maybe it is a good thing ;)

1 week from today at this time I should be through with my surgery and asking myself why the hell I did this. I have certainly had the last supper syndrome. I made a list of places a few weeks ago and have carefully and straticially hit each and everyone of them. Luckily not all at the same time. I spaced it out and worked out to try and balance things out. My Dr told me NOT to do the last supper thing but hey, the way I see it-Easier said than done. Just one more stop Saturday, The Olive Garden and I will have completed my task!:hungry: I know I'm bad bad bad but it sure tasted good good good!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
