Chimboree, Thanks for the welcome! It is good to be here. I only told one friend from the church and she was very supportive. i told one sis and both my daughters. (I am single). I included a couple of close friends at work. I chose not to tell my mom and some others..because I know my mom would moniter every bite that went into my mouth. So would some of my co-workers, I am just not in the mood for that! I get the support I need from some of these great websites that I have found. So glad I found this one.

Phyl, down 22 pds, that's wonderful. 450 cals a day is way to girl! Your going to be eating more than that after your band. I average 900-1200 cals per day. you have the rest of your life to lose weight so you can take it slower. You don't want to be unhealthy. Plus, your skin won't look as good if you lose it fast.

Shell, wow 47,736 bucks! My goodness, how long were you in the hospital? I was in and out the same day. Mine cost me about 2200 bucks after the ins. Well worth it though.

I still have about a month till my second fill. I will decide as I get closer if I really need it. I don't want to be so restricted that I eat too much less than I am eating now. I feel good about my food intake. I know that that is always subject to change though.

God Bless this beautiful country. I pray for peace in Israel.

Thank you God for loving me so much that you chose me, a sinner, to be one of your own.

Well, I just had to come back today and tell you, I had my first PB. Isn't that funny, I never thought it would happen to me! I had made these little home made pizza's out of ww pita bread, and I guess I took to big of a bite. Oh my gosh, I felt like a swallowed a boulder, It was so painful.

I said help out loud. Boy would I hate that if that happened at the cafeteria at work? I was scared to eat after that, but I started taking teeny tiny bites and chewed it so fine. It is true what they say about the fills starting to work a week or two later.

My goodness, hope that dosnt happen again!

I just found this thread I think it is great

About a month before my surgery I went and talked to my pastor and he assured me that he sees nothing wrong with going for medical help .

My mother also did the same thing before she went in for her weight loss surgery and she was told teh same thing.

I think the Lord gave the doc the knowledge and wisedom to help us all overweight people.

Good luck to you all

I am 2 weeks and 2 days after surgery and thank GOD it has gotten better

Great! I wholeheartedly agree. The Lord uses people and technology to heal, just as much as He heals supernaturally.

I'm glad you're doing well now. I have 20 days till my surgery. I am so excited!

Hey guys,

Let me introduce myself. I am a Christian and I love the Lord with all my heart. I am not yet banded. My insurance is Tricare and we are not sure if it will pay or not. I cannot afford to self pay yet. I am saving but it will be at least 6-8 months before I am there. If I do self pay it will have to be in Mexico. ( The only place I can afford) But I know God has a way of working things out. I have been overweight my entire life. Of 3 children, I got the fat gene. I am currently living in Germany-due to military. I was in the states for a month and my flight was delayed. I missed my psych eval. Now, I have to start from scratch and it takes several weeks to get an appointment. But, I know God has a perfect day assigned to me. Please all, pray that Tricare pays for this band and that I get a surgery date soon. I really need this help from the band. I am tired of living with the weight and I need help in getting it off.

Hi Dee! Glad you found our thread. I hear you about the self-pay. I pray that your insurance will cover it. I have Carefirst and they did cover. I was so grateful. Like you said, God has a day for you and your surgery. It will come. I was banded 7/25/07 and I love it! I, too, was so sick of being overweight. I knew it was time to do s'thing. I'm almost 30 and I want to be healthy and happy.

Praying for you!!!

Dee,

I am Medicare primary, Tricare For Life secondary. I haven't received any bills at all yet. A couple of E.O.B.s have come from Tricare for preliminary visits/tets and so far I don't owe anything. I think when the dust settles, I may end up having to pay for the initial dietary consult, but that's all I've been told I'd have to pa for.

All I know is that for so long I have been praying to God that I could find an answer to losing weight. I feel that I have been given a second chance at life. I will be banded Aug. 31st and am thanking God everyday for this chance.

Karen

I'm sorry but I'm having a problem w/ the way thing are today.

Not just on this site but anywhere. it's like if you tell someone your faith or about JESUS or ask them what they believe. and if they are somthing other than you (say like an athiest or morman or watch tower ect.). And then when I tell them what I belive then I am a bad person. And we are suppose to tell everyone that. JESUS is the way the truth and the life. But when we do that we are"pushing our beliefs on them". I guess what I don't get is in Proverbs it tells us not to argue w/ a fool, but at what point do we give up on someone and not argue with them

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
