Do you feel weird telling people exactly how many pounds you've lost?

People who haven't seen me for awhile notice my weight loss right away (i went from a sz 20/22 to a sz 10) but what I find most bizarre is how many people want to know exactly how much I lost, like an actual numeric value of pounds. I don't feel weird saying I've gone down several dress sizes, but I do feel feel uncomfortable saying "I've lost about 70lbs".

Why does this make me so uncomfortable? Is it because I've kept my WLS a secret and I don't want people to do the math and jump to conclusions? Or is it just that my gaining and losing weight has been an emotional struggle and I just don't feel it's everyone's business because it's so private to me? I sincerely don't know and am doing some soul searching.

Do you tell people how much you've lost? The only people I've told are my parents, husband and my best friend. Everyone else, i lie and say i don't get on the scale, i just go by how my clothes feel.

Depends on who it is. My close family knows, but I didn't tell many people I had surgery, and I don't tell them I've lost 140 pounds. They will certainly do the math. I didn't want them to know how mu

I didn't feel weird at 30 pounds. Or 40. Or 50, 60, 70. I was even OK the first time I said 100. Then the total, complete embarrassment clicked in for no reason that I can put my finger on. I thi

I can agree with all of y'all..people are SO NOSEY!! ???? and they usually guess waaaayyy more than what you've actually lost but because I'm in a stall right now I think no one cares or notices ???? this journey has been way more emotional than physical ????????????

Yes Yes Yes! I hate to tell the total number! Everyone asks....people I barely know! I am only about a month out and have lost about 27 to 29 lbs...depending on the day. I feel totally comfortable announcing it on this sight because I know we are all in the same boat. It's safe. But, telling everyone who asks is extremely uncomfortable. And....when you answer that question the next question they ask is "how much do you want to lose?" and then the comment "I never would have guessed you were that overweight!" Good Grief! I work with 90% woman....and lots of them....you tell one person and by lunch then entire building knows your business. Then I feel like everyone is staring and talking about me. Being over weight almost my entire life I was basically invisible.....bigger than most, but invisible to most. That was safe. Now I feel very vulnerable. I have never, could never and would never ask someone something so personal!

Vsgann great responses! I think its rude, as rude as asking someone how much do you weigh or how old are you or how often do you have a bm...I mean really...like touching a pregnant woman's belly. Some people have no manners. I hate the question, how'd you do it? Or what are you doing? I don't know how to answer that one without telling everyone my business. Maybe one day I'll be comfortable saying I had wls, im just not there yet.
