  1. My niece told me about a free app that can get you from sedentary to 5k in 30 days. Couchto5k it has a lot of cool features so I thought I'd share. Im going to give it a try
  2. Vsgann great responses! I think its rude, as rude as asking someone how much do you weigh or how old are you or how often do you have a bm...I mean really...like touching a pregnant woman's belly. Some people have no manners. I hate the question, how'd you do it? Or what are you doing? I don't know how to answer that one without telling everyone my business. Maybe one day I'll be comfortable saying I had wls, im just not there yet.

    Post Op Blues?

    Truer words were never spoken!!
  4. My surgeons insist on crushing also. However we must must mix it with unsweetened applesauce sinxe day one. Something anout solid and digestion. It is so much more tolerable than in liquid.
  5. I've been on this forum since before my surgery in April. I read A LOT of posts and find that many, definitely not all, of the regular posters are quite judgemental. We each walk our own journey, in relationships, religion, and weight loss. No one has the right to tell another their way is the best or only way and that one shouldn't eat a certain way. I've frequently been left with a bad taste in my mouth by something someone said, because let's face it...posting here is leaving oneself quite vulnerable. I truly feel for those with no support system who are looking for guidance and get scolded. I ask you please, if you don't have something nice to say, stay quiet.

    Nausea

At 4months out I still can't tolerate eggs. I think they are a food that depends on the person. Sorry that happened!

Thank you. I appreciate that more than you know. I never expected this to be easy, but my support groups didn't mention any of the problems I experienced.
  8. Hang in there...it gets so much better!

    A light bulb went off

I had an issue with vomiting. Gross! So to try and swallow the pills in liquid they came right back up! At my one month appt I told him I couldn't tolerate the vitamins they came right back up he encouraged me to try a pill cut im threes. That pill slicer was a god-send! I feel for you because I know how trapped you feel but trust me when I say, it gets so much better!! xo

Wow! You are having a really rough time. You remind me of me 4months ago. I can't suggest what you should do but I can tell you what I did...I concentrated on staying hydrated I drank diluted reg. Gatorade all day I didn't start my supplements until 1month out and that's about when I could finally tolerate the protein shakes (finding one that was palatable is another story) its really overwhelming at first with no complications...you are struggling. Be kind to yourself, cry if you need, sleep when you can and most of all try to take it one minute one hour one day at a time. Im rooting for you xoxo

    A light bulb went off

I am 4months out and it has not been easy or fun. Im still learning. Never be afraid to ask because odds are there is someone feeling or going through something similar. I know I felt very alone. Feel free to pm me anytime!
  13. Slow and steady wins the race! Good luck!

    Trying to understand

Actually my op wasn't about ME. I know many of you find that hard to bekieve, I was wring in response to someone who posted she drank real gatorade and was scolded for drinking "sugarwater". In those first 2 weeks it was that sugar water that kept me out of the hospital. So before you lecture and pretend to know me...ask. As a side note, being called "starchild" by vsgann shows you just how much went into reading my post and more about what she wants to say.
  15. Lately I've been a mess. I was stuck for almost a month between 195-200 up down up down and have really been cranky angry and sad...but I don't know why. Im an emotional eater and can't/won't do that anymore but just don't like the person I've been. Anyone else feeling or going through anything similar?

    My emotional roller coaster

Thanks so much. I just do not feel like me! This comforting myself with food thing that I never thought was mean is REAL! The kids going back to school have me a basket case. I hope you get to feeling better soon!

Try not to be so hard on yourself. One day at a time concentrate on staying hydrated I promise every day you'll feel a little bit better and a little like yourself! Xo

Maybe you should read some of MY posts before judging MY personal experience. If you don't like my posts about my journey don't read them. I happen to have had a very hard time after surgery. We all can't be perfect.
  19. In the first weeks I drank regular gatorade also. It was the only thing I could tolerate and with the diarrhea I was having I was terrified of dehydrating.
  20. The protien bullets, as I call them can be found in most health food stores and even walmart. New Whey makes some, I just can't stand the consistency.

    What can I eat?

I am 4months post op and can only eat meat if its wet...like in sauce or gravy. I do better with vegetable protein and beans and legumes. Just a thought.
  22. Zoey are you exercisibg at all? I find that I struggle with protein, I drink 2 shakes a yogurt every day protein from meat hurts. No matter how wet or how much I chew it, it's uncomfortable. As are veggies and fruits so I limit them, as I do bread.
  23. April 23 here...every day is a struggle. Down 50 lbs. I lose 2 lbs then nothibg for 2 -3 weeks.
  24. In the beginning I kept a small thermos of broth and one of decaf tea because it would get cold before I could drink it all. My sleeve still doesn't like cold liquid. Good luck!
