Emotional mess...!

Recommended Posts

Going onto 4 wks post op this coming Tues and I have got the worst case of PMS and I'm not premenstral at all! I have been so emotional - little things set me off and I've been crying and getting angry at nothing sometimes. I swear I have a hormonal imbalance right now. I heard this is normal but how normal?? Maybe should I see a specialist to test my blood for something? I can't function like this for long, it's very draining. Any advice...?

Ah yes this sounds familiar. I was a wreck anything would make me cry or make me furious. My first period was bad but it has gotten better.

I was told by my doctor that fat cells store estrogen and as your fat melts the estrogen comes out and causes mood changes. Well it did to me.

But it goes down and gets easier to manage, I am 3 1/2 months post op and feeling fairly normal. Don't worry you will be ok. Let your self feel what you are feeling. This will pass

Good luck on your journey its going to be amazing!

You are not alone, I went throught he same thing at that time but I thought it was just the stress of going back to work. Nope, I figured it is like post partum depression and it only lasted about 2 weeks. I just got out and walked when I could or got together with friends. Don't let it get you...but if you feel the need, talk to your doctor. . I feel for you, it was awful but it passed as I hope yours will also.

I agree with the fat cells theory. Those first two months were hard. The theory says that your fats cells store fluids, excess hormones and toxins. As they shrink they give off a lot of what they are storing causing a flood of crap your system isn't use to.

Attempt to combat it with keeping yourself hydrated and remember, you are physically going through a HUGE change. Be patient with yourself. And sometimes a good cry can be very cathartic.

I am so with you. My emotions can go from tears to rage in a matter of seconds. I am almost 5 months post op and though it has lightened up, it is still bad. I feel sorry for my husband and two young daughters. I feel like a basket case and am constantly apologizing for my behavior. I spoke to my surgeon about it at my 4 month follow up and he said it will eventually even out or go away. I sure hope so because I don't know how much more of this emotional roller coaster I can take. Hang in there, you are not alone.

I am 4 months post op and feeling very stressed! I started losing my hair. I knew it would happen but to actually live through is awful anyone know how long this may last? It makes me sad and I know that sounds rather vain but like I said to live through it is very hard and not easy to ignore!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
