Anyone now have trouble with deoderant working?? I have never had a B.O. problem as long as I remembered deoderant...Degree has always worked well for me...until now. I have found I am "powering through" my deoderant if it is more than 75 degrees outside.

Does this last? Is there a deoderant that y'all have found keeps newly discovered BO under control? Or have I just become more stinky for reasons other than WLS?

I have that same problem - I never had a problem before and now I feel like i need to wear a stick of deodorant under each arm. I've been switching up my deodorant and that seems to help a bit - I also keep a travel size one at work. Secret has a clinical strength one I'm going to try this week. My husband uses a clinical strength and it works really well for him.

I have this issue from time to time, and my BO is definately different than it was before. I have read that this is usually a side effect from ketosis. I just keep body spray with me to keep me feeling fresh. Have you tried the clinical strength yet? That may help.

I have heard that is a sign of ketosis but I am not a doctor. I haven't had this problem but I work part time in a doctors office as well and one thing the doctor I work for suggests for B.O. that is way to over powering is getting botox in the glands. Sounds WAY too painful for me to even think of but he says it works. I would try the clinical strength deodorant and see if it works. If it doesn't I would ask your PCP for suggestions on how to handle the B.O.

So I get bad breath and stinky pits?? :/

Will definitely try the clinical strength...guess the money I save on food will go to deoderant :D

I had this issue early out. I lost 33lbs pre surgery and for about two months after I got REALLY stinky. (IMO) Seemed like no matter what I did I could smell that "smell". Then it stopped. Not sure what changed or why, I am not a doctor. I was just happy the day I realized I didn't smell the funk anymore...So my guess is "this too shall pass..."

Crazy suggestion. Mini pads stuck to your clothing underarms. Spares in your purse. Change when needed.

Ha! I'm afraid that would be itchy!!

Luckily (!) Denver is cold and snowy this week! I get a reprieve from the funk!

I agree in support group they have said that is a sign of ketosis.

Ladies, Don't Dispair - spray bottle, white vinegar or cottonball, white vinegar

Shower with antibacterial soap if possible. If not, your usual. After shower, spritz with vinegar underarms, under breasts, or places odor is noticed, air dry. Cover vinegar area with your favorite light body spray to erase the vinegar smell.

You can also soak a cotton ball in vinegar and wipe underarms then air dry.

I travel with a small spray bottle of vinegar inside a plastic zip bag in my suitcase.

No more worries! :-)

I went through this. Think about it this way. The stinkier you are the more fat your body is burning :) I stunk to high heaven the first 2 months but I lost 60 pounds. The smell went away as I started being able to eat more and more weight loss slowed WAY the heck down. I'm praying for my stench to come back right now!

I normally have very potent odor if I don't use a strong enough deodorant. I have tried many brands and the one that is always my go to is Lady Mitchum clear gel. That stuff is the best I have tried and I have tried almost everything on the market!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
