Suzzie - I bought my Stevia at the State Line wal-mart in south KC - so you should have it in the Walmart by you. I bought two boxes of the packet at the time, but I still have a ton. I mostly drink Water, but I use it in tea when I have that. Stevia is great and doesn't have an after taste. I hope they start making diet stuff with it, I still don't like the pre-made things with Splenda, I think they have an aftertaste. I do use splenda packages in tea and have learned to like the taste.

CONGRATS on the Jeans, it sounds funny, but it is a great feeling to be able to buy wal-mart jeans. I TOTALLY understand!

Hope everyone is having a great start to the new year.

Stef--I bought the packets and the clear drops. I bought both because I just wasn't sure which one to get.

However, I will carry the drops in my purse. It's a squeeze bottle, (not the dropper)--so if I'm out, I can get Water and lemons and make "lemonade"

I will keep the packets at home to use in tea.

I'm with you O2BTHIN!!! I've decided I need a fill but my work schedule is going to hold me back from going for a couple of weeks.

I am recommitting to eat my Protein first. I will NOT have Mexican food because I cannot make a good choice when I go there. Someday I might actually get in all the Water I'm supposed to. I'm not a drinker - I barely drink 2-3 glasses a day and that counts taking my morning pills and my coffee!!

Well I'm just about done with cheating. Anyone else?

YES!!!

Protein first. Trying to get off the sugar and High Fructose Corn Syrup (AKA: the Devils Juice).

All of my bad choices over the last few weeks have me back up to 306!!! I'm so annoyed with myself. The size 24 jeans, even though they are tight, were great encouragement yesterday! I know I can get back on track.

I am so happy the holiday's are over ! I am finally getting back on track and following my Protein intake. I was finally able to get in for a fill. My surgeon moved closer to my hometown and I transferred there to stay under his care. If I can cut 1 1/2 hours off my 4 hour drive time I'll do anything. I've waited almost 2 1/2 months to see him and was in terrible need of a fill. He was aggressive with this one since I was having NO restriction. I am now at 2.75 cc's in my 4cc band. For the first time in 6 months I actually can feel fullness. It has made a huge difference already. I've even dropped 4 pounds since Wednesday.

I'm so proud of everyone on this site. You are amazing!

I have a NSV I'd like to share. A few years back I loaned a nice dressy black suit to my younger sister (5 years younger). This Christmas I asked her to bring it back for me. Her response ~ "It's a size 14 - you won't be able to wear it." After getting it home I tried it on and "BITE ME! It fits and it may be snug, but it fits!" The topper is ~ I only weigh about 15 pounds more than she does. Ooh I can't wait until I get past her. I won't rub it in her face, but there was a day I was skinner than her. THEN MY TAPEWORM DIED!

Have I mentioned ~ I LOVE MY BAND TOO! :whoo:

Just to update - I'm now down to 195. I started my journey on June 19th, 2007 and weighed in at 260 prior to surgery. OH HAPPY DAYS!

Be careful with the bottled Stevia, check the label to make sure it doesn't say something like "Refrigerate after opening to extend freshness." Mine does. I just carry the packets in a small snack-size ziploc baggie either in my purse or in a pocket (usually both).

Hey everyone!

I haven't posted on here in a while so I just wanted to say Hi and see how everyone was doing? I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Years! It looks like everyone is doing so great on their weightloss, I'm so excited for all of you!

I finally cleaned out my closet Monday and got rid of 3 huge bags of clothes that are all way to big, It was really exciting!!! We took some pics of clothes that used to fit me, the skirt was actually tight on me. I just wanted to share these with you'll, it is amazing what a huge difference 6 months and 97lbs makes! I am at 215lbs *this morning* down from 312lbs *the Friday before my surgery*

MKUS - Great going on your weight loss!!

Suzzzie - You'll be able to breathe in those new jeans soon!

Stef - The Ambien story is scary - glad nothing bad happened and you got rested!

My band has been so fickle the past two months - ever since I had to get a de-fill mid November, I haven't gotten back to restriction which was a lot of fun to operate on sheer will power during the holidays! Then on Friday it decides to tighten up so much I couldn't swallow anything except liquids. I've stayed on liquids the past 3 days and today I can swallow bigger gulps without pain so tomorrow I'll try "mushies".

The good thing about all this is that this morning I officially entered "Onederland". Haven't been under 200 for about 20 years so it's a great feeling.

I am on the road all week but I'll be reading your encouraging and entertaining posts! Have a good one, all!

LadyHR - COngrats on ONEderland, even if it has been a rough road.

How sad is it that I was thinking about getting a fill to make me tighter in hopes that I could only do liquids and drop some weight? Lol. I really do have goo restriction, as long as I choose the right foods.

MKU, that's a significant amount of weight! Wow, it really shows in the pics. You must feel like you're floating! Congrats. When did you get your surgery? What do you eat normally?

HR, congrats on Onederland, you're inspiring! I know what you mean about a fickle band. Isn't it frustrating? Some days I can eat anything, some days I have pain from Cereal or cottage cheese and pb it. If I *dare to get a fill, I will surely close off and have to get a complete unfill that will set me back 4 months. I'm so frustrated at times, I feel like the band isn't working for me. I don't have much willpower, otherwise I wouldn't have gotten the band to help me in the first place. Why don't people understand that? The whole idea of the band is you're supposed to eat less....be satisfied, go for hours without being hungry. I'm starving ALL the time. Even if my band is tight and I manage to eat, I'm hungry a 1/2 hour later.

Anyway, I'm venting now. I really do wish to say congrats and keep up the good work!!

No you are not a thread killer.

I totally can relate. I have done well, but I am hunger most of the day depending on what time of the month it is. Today I was starving - is was 2:30 and I hadn't had lunch. I was out so I pulled in to McDonalds - I ordered a chicken nugget kids meal and forgot to ask for apples instead of fries. So of course instead of not eating them, I shoved 2 in my mouth immediately. I got through about 1/2 a nugget and thought I was going to have to pull over and PB. I managed to hold it down, was in pain and STILL hungry.

I had a NSV today, but also a very sad realization. I needed new pants because I am walking around holding mine up all the time like those kids that walk around with their pants hanging and their hands on their crotch! I went to Dress Barn and picked up a 20W - but was surprised to find I really needed an 18W (I started at a tight 32W). That of course is wonderful, until I looked at my legs in the full length mirror - YUCK! Unless I can afford a thigh lift, I will never be able to wear a swimsuit or shorts above the knee again. Maybe if I could get my butt in gear and exercise, I could make some improvement, but that is so hard for me!

I hope everyone can get back on track in the new year. It is a daily battle for me to make good choices and I often don't, Thank goodness I can't overeat anything! Well I can eat chocolate pudding with brownies I found out - but I am not a sweets eater and only want chocolate about once a month.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
