Hiatal Hernia repair discomfort?

Recommended Posts

I am 3 weeks out. I had hernia repaired during surgery. A few days after I started purée, I started having discomfort where I imagine the hernia was. At first I thought it was heartburn but I am not so sure. Maybe just some left over healing pain? Anyone else experience this?

I am almost four weeks out and I too had my hernia repaired when I had the sleeve op done. I have pains now and then in that area as well. But I have an even bigger problem now, I can't seem to keep food down or if I do, am in a lot of discomfort. I had great luck the first two weeks and even into the third, am loosing weight very well. But am very concerned now about being able to function. I get up and it begins. I was told the pain in the area of my hernia is normal healing.

No, not severe pain. I do have a lot of heartburn and do take my meds twice a day as well. I can't eat a lot either, lol, not that I want to. And I can get food down, now getting it to stay down, lol is another story. Hoping all will calm down soon. The docs seem to think so.

I had the same repair and discomfort. Dr said it is just part of the healing process. I am able to keep foods down only threw up once since surgery. I feel it most in the morning. They told me they put stiches in to close and repair the hernia.

I am in the same boat as you all. I just started purees today. At first, I was fine. I had about 1.5tbsp Greek yogurt and are it over the course of half an hour. But now, about an hour and a half later, I am in sheer misery. I'm having the worst heartburn I've ever experienced as well as pain & discomfort where I presume the hernia repair is located. Ugh.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
