Soooo, I'm almost three weeks out. I weaned down my two cups à day habit and have not had any since surgery. Has anyone had just a little? Like just a half a cup? Not drinking alcohol hasn't been too hard yet but I am missing the coffee

I was given Decaf in the hospital the day after surgery. I waited 3 months after surgery to drink it after that (it's acidic and can be hard on a healing, wounded, stomach). But I've been drinking a couple of cups a day regularly since then, no problems.

I started drinking coffee again (the leaded stuff, no decaf! :D) at about 5-6 weeks.

My one year anniversary is in three weeks and I now drink about 6-8...sometimes 10 cups a day...Splenda, a little Hershey's cocoa powder and/or sugar-free vanilla Coffee-Mate. I know, I know...that's a lot of coffee and it's really bad for me and my heart will probably explode and it affects global warming and...whatever! I enjoy it and thus far it hasn't had a negative impact, so I'm drinkin' it! :P

Main thing, don't rush and just find what works for you...some tolerate it fine and others have issues.

Hang in there, this early stage was by far the most challenging, however this phase will soon be a distant memory.

Good luck and Godspeed on your journey!

I started drinking coffee again 3 weeks post op and now at 4.5 months out I'm drinking quite a bit. It's my only indulgence .... This weekend I had 3 double shots of espresso mixed with 8 ounces of brewed coffee. Had a great workout that day.

I don't drink coffee but was a diet coke freak. I found a Water with caffeine in it. Does the job. I work overnight so I need my fix. The water is called avitae water. You can get it on Amazon or Office Depot .

I was in Love/Lust with coffee preop, although I only had 2-3 cups a day. I couldn't function without it. I detoxed preop and it was probably one of the hardest things to do. At 2 weeks I had Decaf and it appeared my taste for it had gone but I wanted to "taste" something besides shakes. I ran out of decaf so I tried regular at 3.5 weeks. I drank just half a cup. It's really just those first few sips that seem orgasmic in the morning anyway. (Yes I said orgasmic - that's how much I loved coffee). I still mostly drink decaf tea or low lead teas but a few times a week I have regular coffe. But still, after a about half a cup, I'm done. I even went to my local coffee shop and had a small, 1 shot esspresso and 1 shot decaf with real cream. It was soooo good but I only drank about 1/4 of it. Just like everything else these days, a little is all I need.

I re-started at around 4 months post-op . No regrets - love my coffee!!!! It definitely helps with my Fluid intake and " regularity" ( sorry tmi)

I started back on coffee around 3-4 weeks. The research out there on the pros/cons of coffee on weight loss and after weight loss surgery is divided in conclusions. So basically, I would go with whatever you and your surgeon are most comfortable with. For me, it has been totally fine.

I tried coffee over and over for first three months and it made me sick. At around 3 months all of a sudden I was back to loving it! I have 2-3 cups a day. Now I have to restrict the milk I love to heat with it!!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
