April 16th role call - who's with me!

Recommended Posts

I'm not really bloated, but I've been having more gas pains today - right on the middle of my chest under my ribcage. It's been really annoying.

I also forgot to take my Prilosec earlier and paid for it. Some of the worst heartburn/reflux ever. Yuck.

I had gas pain until I started taking gasx strips on a regular basis. Probably not a good idea but I take them every couple hours even when I'm not gassy. I was feeling super bloated until I got my pottying on track with murilax.

Ok girls I'm getting upset....I'm only down 7lbs since my surgery :( what am I doing wrong? I lost 11lbs on the liquid diet one week prior. I know it's 18 lbs since April 9th but I'm quickly getting upset cause yesterday I was 232.4 and after a full day if working and a supermarket run I'm 233 today? Thank you for letting me vent!

Okay! Sigh I threw every meal I ate yesterday up and passed out as well. Urine is clear so getting enough fluids and getting about 40 G Protein in and 400-500 calories. I can eat about a cup and never feel full. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Positive side. I did try Vitamins today and I'm holding those and Breakfast down. Each day is a new challenge but I'm conquering them in stride. Baby steps. Just keep swimming.

Hello ladies! Checking in from Yosemite village. This first experience traveling has had it's pros and cons. I brought Protein Shakes, hummus and cottage cheese with me. The family just left for a hike and I stayed behind to read my book and relax. We were just here a few weeks ago and I was able to get my hiking fix. Can't wait to heal and hit the trails again!

That stinks! My nutritionist told me to go back one stage in the diet if this happens. For example, if you are on all liquids go back to Clear Liquids or if you are on purees go back to all liquids. Just for a day or two until you start feeling better. Then, slowly add in one food at a time so you can see if there's a certain food that you aren't tolerating well. I'm still on Clear Liquids so I can't offer anything from experience.....but that's what I wrote down from our visit. Hope you feel better.

Mmmm hummus. Can't wait to get off clear liquids! I feel like I'm about to lose my mind. It's torture cooking! My husband is out of town so I'm making meals. Ugh. But enough about me, I'm glad you are getting some relaxation and enjoying the outdoors. You'll be back on the trails before you know it!

Don't feel bad, Mschwartz. I've lost weight since surgery, but I somehow put on a pound over the past couple of days. I'm not getting in my Protein, I'm sure that's part of the reason why I gained. I guess our bodies are just confused. It's a bummer when you're eating tons less than what you did and see a gain, but I guess you just have to keep going and try to improve (or that's what I keep trying to tell myself).

Butterflypinup, I can also eat a lot of liquids and never really feel full. I was thinking maybe something was wrong with me - that my sleeve had stretched or I was just weird. Makes me feel better to know that someone else is seeing the same thing. That sucks about the throwing up and passing out - if that continues, you should definitely let your doctor know.

Glad to hear that the Vitamins stayed down! I've been kinda bad about not taking mine daily (I always forget). I've got to get better about that and the Protein.< /p>

My biggest issue is still extreme fatigue. Feels like I'll never have energy again. Also feel bloated today, but my period is overdue already, so I guess that's why. Should be interesting to see how the surgery affects all that.

Well I have finally been able to make Protein intake more tolerable. I made yummy smoothie with my Protein and it turned out great! My ninja blender came in handy.

banana

squeezed orange juice

peaches

ice

vanilla protein

I know its so missing the berries but cant have those yet...baby steps.

Also spoke to my Dr today he told to get on prilosec for acid reflux.

Well hope everyones weekend gets a little easier!

For nausea and vomiting my nut said go back to clear liquid diet.

That shake sounds really good, butterfly. I may have to try that! I'm drinking one of mine now. I'm so looking forward to soft foods so I don't have to drink as many of these shakes.

My doctor actually prescribed Prilosec and had me start taking it the day after surgery. At first it really helped, but the past couple of nights I've had some reflux, so I don't know what's going on.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
