Anyone struggle with starting puree?

Recommended Posts

Brittnielynn, I was sleeved by Dr Avara on 4/9. How did you do with your liquids in the beginning? I finally got in one whole shake yesterday but still can't get in my Water.< /p>

It was hard for me at first, I felt like I never wanted to drink anything. I had a horrible time with my Vitamins also which I'm just now starting to take since I can swallow them. I was sleeved march 24th. Trying to crush them up and take them made me sick lol so I struggle but i turned to crystal light lemonade packets and now I drink all day long. Now that my stomach is healing I find that it's growling too and I'm hungry lol

Oh thanks for that. I will use that as my guide also. Got my post surgery appointment on Thursday so I will also ask if they have a detailed listing like that coz it would definitely be very helpful.... Or I will have to keep asking you for pics of the stages you are on... :)

No problem!! I'll share any information I have :)

It was very hard coz I felt like drinking gave me nausea even from just one sip so I had to ask the nurses to keep giving me anti nausea meds top ups. By the time I got home it had settled down a bit but was still hard. For me I found drinking ice cold water was easier than tap warm water. And the shakes could take anywhere from 1-3 hours to finish....

I found some Protein ice... It's kind of like koolaide but has like 49 grams if protein in a 20 oz bottle! I like it better than the shakes... I am getting sleeved next week.. Can't wait!! Thanks for sharing your experiences!

I have a question for folks on this thread if I may.

I am on week 2 and am eating puréed foods is that bad that I can tolerate these?? I worry because I can also eat shaved deli meats (though I have only had about 5 pieces)

My Dr says stick to the green book "Make every bite count" but find the liquids boring as heck.

Is this normal or am I setting myself up for failure?

I would say try to stick to the recommended diet as best you can but I too cheated once or twice. Being able to tolerate it doesn't mean it won't do your new stomach any harm. Plus you could try switching up the range of liquids you are having. By week 2 u are atleast on nourishing liquids not just clear so try different shakes/ flavours or different brands and see how u go. I really like the Optifast strawberry flavour and even though I am now allowed purée I still have one of those per day... Atleast till I finish the box I bought:)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
