In the paperwork the hospital gave me when I was discharged, it said I could resume a normal workout routine 4 - 6 weeks post op, but not to work my abs for 6-8 weeks (because of where my port is placed). I started walking on the treadmill 2 days after surgery, but I didn't do any exercise besides walking for the first 4 weeks. Then I started with the elliptical machine, arm weights, and jogging. I tried jump roping at 4 weeks but it was uncomfortable for my port area. Follow your doctor's guidelines but also listen to your body! You don't want to overdo it so soon after surgery. Best of luck to you :)
