Any April Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

Hi! I am scheduled for April 14. I've been on the pre-op diet almost 3 weeks now and I have had my surgery date in place since then. I have been seriously sweating insurance approval, and I just called the office to check on it. I have been approved since last Friday. Arrgghhh! A phone call would've been nice!! :) I have been (well, probably still am) a nervous wreck, and this pre-op diet really sucks. I hope everyone's surgery goes well! I will be biting whatever nails I have left for a few more days :)

Happy V Day to you! You will do awesome!

Hello New Jen, How are you doing now? I was sleeved on the 9th... I'm doing ok! Just adjusting to my new life eating schedule! I'm getting my Proteins & liquids in just fine! I'm not hungry or full. I'm still sore. I am actually looking forward to when I will feel well enough to exercise... Walking of something! Are you feeling ok, are you reaching your Protein & liquid goals?

I'm doing pretty well. Getting my fluids in has been ok as long as I constantly remember to drink. I'm having a hard time getting all that protein in. It's a lot! I've been eating geek yogurt in the morning, Protein Shake in the afternoon and Soup at night and Water throughout the day. Just dealing with all this gas is crazy. Feel like a burping machine lol.

Hi All,

Just an update:

Today was the first time in six days that I visited the restroom for a BM. Interestingly enough I found that the night I didn't take any pain meds the following day I was able to go. Any one else having the same problems? I am still sore and am having a tough time sleeping. Tomorrow is my first Post Op appointment with my primary care doctor. Looking forward to seeing what he has to say. I am tried of eating yogurt and Protein shakes already. There has to be another way to get Protein in. I have tried the Isopure but that just tastes like chemicals. Even have gone as far as to add Protein powder to milk and yogurt. It is just an on going battle to get the Protein in. I now just think of it as medication that I have to take. Each day I am getting in at least 30 minutes of continuous walking in but I am easily tired. Looking forward to hearing about everyone's experiences.

Mike

I'm April 29th, and just started my pre-op liquid diet. Three shakes a day and ad lib Water. Not too shabby! I'm so excited to be on my way. I love this site, inspirational, informative, and great to have someone to talk to that knows how you feel. So glad my surgeon's office turned me on to you. I look forward to continuing me journey with you all!

Narcotic pain meds are very constipating. That's one reason it's good to get off of them as soon as you can. Walking helps a lot with the Constipation, as well as drinking plenty of Water, both of which we have to do anyway. :)

I'm glad you updated us and that you're doing well. ... Let us know how your post-op appt goes!

T-minus 11 days and counting for me......

Just got done at my last pre-op appt. Surgery is Wednesday the 16th. I've had my date for a while but physically going into the hospital for the pre-op appt just made everything feel real. Wow. I am super nervous and excited all at once!!! Anyone else on the 16th?

"Good for you! So today is your Sleeve Eve?? If so, Happy Sleeve Eve you are going to kick butt!"

Thank you! Yes, it's my sleeve eve, less than 24 hours now! I have not been nervous until today. I have to remain positive and think of two previous surgeries I've had and was told I have a high pain tolerance...fingers crossed!!

You'll never guess what I'm doing to pass time. BAKING!!....of all things.

Today is day 6 of my two week pre op liquid diet. I never would have thought I would have made it here on day one. All in all it hasn't been too bad. I've been out with friend and family to restaurants and haven't attacked anything yet and believe me it's not my great will power, I guess it support or Devine intervention. My surgery is April 22nd and I'm 90% excited 10 % nervous. I'm so glad I was given this site as part of my pre surgery stuff. It's wonderful to know there are people who have successfully traveled the path I'm on and can answer question. Thanks you guys rock

Hi all! Good luck to y'all going under this week and speedy recovery to those that just did. I'm a April 1st sleever. I've been doing great. Spent all day hiking and hula hooping yesterday with the warmer weather. I feel wonderful and have no regrets whatsoever, even though the first few days were rough! So girls hang in there!

A quick question... Anyone have any issues yet with thinning hair? I've noticed horribly that mine has already. I'm taking Biotin and making sure I'm getting all my Protein daily. I also am using Nioxin Shampoo, conditioner and scalp treatment. Any other suggestions???

Hello from the pre-op room! Got my IV in, compression socks and pump squeezing away, warm blankets and I'm ready! I'm here alone physically asking God to be by my side here and now. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. I'm keeping myself from getting too nervous by logging into here and Facebook.

So, stuff I brought with me; mouth moisturizer spray, throat lozenger, gas-x strips, chap stick, lotion, baby wipes, pillow, small comfy blanket, robe, and my regular loose clothing. Oh! And my ipad and cell phone.

So far nurses and surgeon assistant are so kind and attentive. "We will take good care of you" are comforting words.

See you on the "lighter" side!

Ps) thx for being here for me!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
