Back on the Band!

I had surgery 12/28/2009, I lost 42 lbs, then gained back 20 lbs! Boo! My band was not helping me lose. I did not follow the no liquid 30 min before or after rule. Poor planning on my part.

I have a 14cc band, and it was filled to 10cc's. I had tests done to make sure my band was still in place, and in good condition. So I made an appointment to get another fill (I had not had my last one since 8/2010!!!! So I'm back on my journey! This time I'm praying it will be a success!

I'm at 11.5 cc's, and I'm thinking this is my sweet spot! I know the sleeve is more successful (many of my friends did not lose on the band, so they had revision surgery, and got the vertical sleeve. Looking back, I wish I had chosen the sleeve.

Here's hoping for success! ????

You can have any kind of weight loss surgery you want but if you don't follow the rules and change your eating habits forever you will fail all three. You have to put forth effort with any weight loss surgery. The sleeve and by pass may give you faster weight loss but the faster you lose the more apt you are to put it back on. Only one thing to know and that is none of them will work if you don't work with them.

Cheryl is right , as usual :-)

It is true that other kinds of surgery make you lose more weight in a shorter time, but do you think it is a chance that surgeons are starting to put a band over sleeves and bypasses?

Best luck to your new journey

I have seen the opposite, surgeons are now doing the vertical sleeve over the band. So far all of my friends that had revision surgery to the sleeve are doing great! They have lost all their weight and are maintaining.

I am listening to my body more, eating smaller portions that are filling me up. Before I did not get full from small portions. The biggest thing I have learned is that exercise is the major key!!!

Thank you for the input!

You're right about the EXERCISE !
