The first three days after surgery I was very tired. In fact the 3 rd day I slept much of the day. Then I turned the corner on my recovery and I am back to my normal self, like I never had the surgery. Just going about my activities like normal. Love it!

3 days to go!! I'm freaking out because I am worried about my liver not shrinking enough. Probably shouldn't be worried seeing that I have lost 25 pounds on my own. I guess since I am not scared of the surgery, I had to find something to freak about. This is what I get for reading stuff on the Internet about surgeon's closing people up for having fatty livers.

I think you need to relax you are going to be fine. You have done an awesome job on your weight loss so far. I only lost 7lbs before surgery and I didn't get turned away. Everything is going to work out for you ; )

I just has to maintain before surgery. I only lost 3 lbs. and my doc said what shrinks your liver is the 24 hour liquid diet before surgery.

Thanks for all the encouragement. My family and friends can tell me it's going to be alright and love the support they are giving me. Support from people who understand what I am going thru is a lot different. We are all in this together.

A good note I weighed in today HW 300. SW 274 CW 264. Surgery on 6-16-14

I am making steady progress also. At the age of 60 I do not expect to keep up with the younger crowd and know that my weight loss will be slower. That's ok. Steady as she goes!!!

HW 226. SW 220 . CW. 212. Surgery date 6-17-14

Waiting on a call back from the doctor's office. They are trying to get me a pre-op appointment at the hospital either today or in the morning. My meeting with my surgeon isn't until 2 tomorrow afternoon and my surgery is Wednesday. Getting really nervous now.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
