I'm in the"regretting my surgery mode!"

Recommended Posts

Like I wrote before I had surgery last Wednesday, March 19 today is March 24 and all I've been doing all day's crying because I regret getting it done! While I was at the hospital, I felt sick. I felt nauseous and dizzy and I had a foley, a drain sticking out of an incision and 2 IV bags at the same time. I stood at the hospital an extra day cause I wasn't urinating. I went home feeling awful but I slept most of the next day. My mind plays tricks on me and makes me feel bad cause I can't eat the stuff I want. My stomach feels lousy all the time which brings on nausea. I just hate the whole thing. Thank God for my daughter and the stuff I read here. I need to get out of this mode. Hopefully, things will get better? I hope so.

By the way, the morning of surgery I weighed 238 and this morning I weighed 230. Not enough to make me happy but not bad for being 5 days post op.

I haven't had my surgery yet but I have read a whole lot of comments and posts on forums and I believe that feeling is totally normal. We already hear all kinds of negatives from family and friends about the fears of the surgery etc. but I have read probably two hundred posts and even the people who had complications say it is one of the best decisions they ever made and would definitely do it again. I can't handle nausea very well either but it will pass and when you see your new self (that will look nothing like you do now) you will be glad you did it. Everyone says it is worth it and they love their sleeve. Hang in there you and I and everyone else can do it and make the changes necessary to change our lives. Check out some videos on youtube it'll really pick up your spirits. Marie

The doctor told me that the first 30 days can cause sadness and emotional distress. It is normal. I got sleeved on Friday 3/21 and it has been a rough few days. I had to go back to the hospital because my drain hole did not close therefor I had to get a few stitches. Today I get out my staples and am scared. I think this is all part of the new "you". Everyday it should get better. My daughter is with me as well and she has been my rock. Keep leaning on her and together you will get through this! Take care, take it slow, and know in time everything will be better.

It gets so much better. I had a lot of bitterness and anger in the first 30 days, but now I'm 3 months out and feel ok.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
