I'm on day 3 of my liquid diet. Hasn't been bad, except that I'm really struggling to drink all 3 Protein Shakes. Day one I managed 2, yesterday I could only drink one and so far today I've had one. I'm not hungry at all and since Thursday I've lost 5lbs. I get my cpap on Monday, see the anesthesiologist and go for my Lovenox class. Won't be long now girls! I have to remember to have my husband to take a full length day of surgery picture so I can see my progress. So far I've lost 13 pounds. A lot of fears are starting to come up. But I'm trying to journal and be realistic about life after surgery.

I was thinking we could all be a great help to each other. Would any of you be interested in doing a weekly check in with our weight loss results and how we are feeling so that we can encourage and support each other? I'm very private and my husband doesn't even know how much I weigh but I am willing to put it out there so that we can all be open and honest and real about our journey. :)

I'm all for checking in weekly! My husband finally got to know my weight last Thursday at my preop surgery apt. He is my only cheer leader as he is the only one who knows about my Surgery on Wed...

I would also love to do weekly checkins and keep each other up to date and pool our collective experience to help each other.

Can't believe it's one week today that I will have my life changed forever..... Just one more week of this blasted Pre-op.... But I can see how it prepares your mind for what's to come .

I would also love to do weekly check ins. I started my preop today. OMG! I am starving (actually I am having head hunger). I got my cashier's check today. This is getting real. I think I am actually getting excited. I have been freaking out but I think it is turning from terror to excited.

So today was my pre admit stuff. I also had to go weigh in, get my training for Lovenox injections, and I picked up my cpap. I have paid for everything and all that's left is 6 more days of liquids and a support group meeting on Thursday. I'm exhausted! But the good news is that today I weighed 240! Down 16 pounds from my starting weight. Woohoooo!

Today is my first day of liquids...I went in to the hospital for an IVC filter and spent some time chatting with my nurse coordinator. He was so nice and supportive!! I'm so glad I am on this journey with such a professional and supportive staff...makes me feel very confident about my decision. Last night I had some feelings of anxiety, but that has gone away. Can't wait for April 14th!

Hey everyone our big day is just around the corner. How's everyone feeling? For me I'm faring ok on the liquid diet but feeling more and more nervous every day. It's like I'm so ready to be sleeved and begin my new life at the same time scared out of mind that when I wake up in recovery I'm going to feel like I've been hit by a freight train.

Mine is April 15th. I am on my my 6th day liquid. My weight is still the same. I am always hungry and it is being very difficult to stay away from eating which is scaring me. I am not having any problems having 3 shakes a day, I love them.

How many days are you guys taking off from work? My job asked me how many days I will be out and I have no idea what to tell them. I requested some doctors note from the nurse, she said they don't give anything till the day of surgery. I wish I could avoid unecessary stress.

@@karla23 hey! congrats on getting so far w your liquid diet. i am about to start mine tomorrow and my surgery is the 21st of april. i took off two weeks because i work with children and they are very hands on. i hear drs recommend 2-3 weeks depending on your profession and level of activity. what do you do? i have the same fears about the shakes - that they wont be enough etc. im more afraid to not like the Bariatric Advantage powder lol. whatever you need you can always ask =]

I thought everyone must be avoiding tax day because I hadn't heard from anyone else on here that they were having surgery on the 15th like me!

I requested 3 weeks off personally. But I told my job that it would depend on how surgery went. Some ppl go back after a week if they really have to and dont have too strenuous of a job. My surgeon said 2 to 3 weeks is average.

I told my supervisor I would be back in 6 days. They don't have a problem giving me the time off, but I have to inform them when I expect to be back. I am a little upset the hospital could not give me anything to prove I need to be out. I will have to wait to the day of surgery to submit all the paperwork and leave request.

I'm a stay at home mom so my mom will be here for a few days to help with the little ones. I have the vanilla Bariatric Advantage flavor. My doctor said we could add 3 frozen strawberries once a day to help change the flavor and when I can't get in more than 2 I put Peanut Butter in it and blend. Today I'm not hungry but it would be nice to chew something. I hope I can make it till Monday! Last night was my first night with the cpap and it sucked. :(

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
