Have your drs suggested shakes? The program I have been doing for 18 months has a nutrionist that basically tells me what to eat. Lol that's where my preop diet came from. 5 days down 16 to go :)

Hi Curvy and HappyGirl!

We will be sleeve triplets as I am also scheduled for the 14th.

Where are you both having surgery?

I hear you on the jitters part , thinking all day long and a bit of worry about two weeks of liquid pre-op diet. I am going with premier Protein ( easy to get ) and I am also allowed lots of green veggies to give me Fiber and nutrition. I can have wishbone salad spritzer on it.

This week I have been detoxing off sugar and caffeine ....yikes I still have a headache :(

I am all booked for flights and preparations are mostly done.... It's really starting to sink in about getting 80% of my stomach removed ... But the results on my two cousins that had it done are soooo awesome! Just hope I am able to achieve the success they have!

Let's keep encouraging each other through the pre-op liquids ..... I hear it's so crucial !

Hey there! The 14th is such a special day for quite a bit of us I see lol. I guess we are quadruplets because CurvyGoddess is also on the 14tjh. This is so exciting and yes no doubt we will all stay in touch but not just through pre-op but through out our journey at least for the first year. This way we can share in the good times and not so good, see each other's progress, and just be rock stars together. I'm going to pm u my cell number.

We are having surgery in Atlanta. I say we because CurvyGoddess is my daughter she's being sleeved at 10am and myself at noon ha! Initially I was like premier is so awesome then I bought a second box from Sam's and that box of shakes seemed thick for some reason. I prefer my shake a little watery so I just add Water to it. It still taste good to me but Chike is at the top of my list as my favorite shake.

Wow. ... Two curvies getting sleeved! That's so cool. What support you will be for each other. I think it will make your rough days so much more bearable.

I am a Canadian opting for the Mexico experience. I am a failed Lapband conversion to sleeve and am so excited about the opportunity to finally "do this". My surgeons and Lapband placement were excellent, but I now believe ( as others on these forums have verified) that the Lapband was just a poor tool for most and did not work as advertised!

I have learned so much about things like eating and chewing slowly, head hunger, and slider and high calorie drinks and junk food that can defeat ANY bariatric procedure!

I hope to be active on this forum as well and support others as much as I can, as that was another thing I learned..... You can't do this alone!!

Good luck to all reading this! Our lives are soon to change forever :)

Ps I don't know how to PM, and am using the iPhone app....which doesn't seem to allow direct posts to people...??

No worries on the pm I will tell ya how to do it. I'm on iPhone app too. If u touch my profile picture it will take u to another screen. At the bottom of that screen u will see the the option to private message me. I'm going to send u one and when I do u will see a notification at the bottom of ur regular screen that u have a message. Touch that area and it will take u to my message.

I we started this process seeking the lap band but the surgeon wasn't for it at all. She felt the success rate wasn't good and the amount of weight my daughter and I have to lose VSG is just a much better option. I was against VSG cuz it was more invasive but once I weighed everything out it I decided I agree with the surgeon and decided on the sleeve. This journey will have it's good days and not so good ones but we will all be here supporting each other every step if the way. That's very encouraging for me.

This is so great to have so many of us going on the journey together. I tried doing the pm on my iPhone but for some reason it did not work.. Still trying to figure out this site.. I have tried the computer and the site looks totally different to me.. I think I need to start a list of all you girls so I know who to keep in touch with. ONce I figure it out .. I will also pm all with my cell phone and email as I think that may be easier to keep in touch with the "sleeve quintuplets.. "lol I will be in touch soon. Need to get back to work.. lol

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
