Colorado Anyone

Hi Tina!

I grew up in Longmont, I still have family there and come up a couple of times a month.

Congrats on scheduling your surgery with Dr K. I LOVE him!

I've been in Longmont about 7 years...I'm actually a transplant (big surprise here in Colorado) from New England. I'm originally from Bangor, Maine... But, I love Longmont! Even if I do have to work in Boulder...

I have a question for anyone who might have an answer... Do you think lifting a 27 pound two year old will be a problem after surgery or like 2 weeks after?

Thanks, Tina

HI tina--and welcome! In answer to your question--you are not supposed to lift over 5 or 10 pounds for a few weeks after surgery, so that might be a problem. Good luck with everything, though.

Tina - Welcome - Dr. K is wonderful! I think you may need a mother's helper type person for your two year old, because you aren't supposed to lift much weight. Your child could cuddle, but you'll be somewhat sore and need to be careful with the kicking and elbows, etc. Congrats on your adoption. My two sons are adopted. They came home within two weeks of each other and are 28 days apart. Now they are 19, but what fun. I adopted them at 37 and was pretty exhausted, so good luck. Weight loss should help with the energy, but the interrupted sleep was hard for me.

Good luck!

Hugs to all!

Hi everyone,

Well I am an official member of the Colorado Lap Band Club. Banded yesterday 6/7/07 by Dr. James Smith here in Pueblo. I am pretty sore this morning, but not anything I can't tolerate. I will tell you one thing Tina - I wouldn't want to try to lift 27 pounds anytime soon.

Connie - thanks for all the support. I really appreciated the message you left on my voicemail.

I am going for a short walk and then back to bed for awhile.

Michelle

Well, how about 3 weeks after surgery? My significant other, Paul, has to go overseas again for a few weeks...so, I will be home alone with my daughter...

I don't have to do a lot, just in/out of the car seat, tub, changing table, dining chairs, etc. Ummm, okay, maybe quite a bit... She is in daycare M-F, 9-5, so, that should help?

I know that I have only been on this site once to introduce myself but I thought I would but in.

I have my 4 month weigh in and fill this wednesday the 13th. A little nervous. Not about the weigh in. I'm always excited about that. I saw my pa on wednesday this week and because of a stomach bug I could not get a fill. I'm just worried that they won't give me a fill this coming week. I know it's silly to think that. I guess I'm having a moment.

I hope everyone here in Colorado is doing well.

Steinquilts--it should be fine as long as you are over your bug. And don't worry--fills are no big deal. I have one on Monday--my 5th, and can't wait. I have been hungry for 3 weeks, so I am anxious to get it done.

Michelle--sounds like you are doing great! Keep us posted. So, girls how about that get together in Denver next weekend?

Hi Gals,

I haven't posted here in a while, I hope all is going going strong.

Conniesueb~I would love to meet up this weekend, but I will be out of town. I think it is a great idea to get together. We just had a little get together with a few gals from this site (Dr. Kirshenbaums gals) and it was amazing. The support we all get here...well, there are no words! Maybe I can catch you all at the next one.

Have a successful weekend!

Conniesueb, thanks for the words of encouragement. I feel much better and am looking ahead for this Wednesday. I went garage sale shopping with my best friend and it really helped to take my mind off of things. It was a good day and we managed to find her a nice sofa for her new apartment for only $45 at the Greeley Salvation Army. And no it wasn't trashy at all. The fabric was in really good shape the springs and cushions were still firm. All and in all it was a lot of fun.

Plentsweet - Dr. K is wonderful. There is another site called "Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum" and it has tons of information about him. I was very reluctant to have this surgery because I have had other rough surgeries that didn't heal well. This was a walk in the park, I healed well and I think that Dr.K is a wonderful orthoscopic surgeon with lots of experience. The staff is supportive and helpful, the surgical center in Parker is top notch. It is great that you are local and can go to Dr. K for follow ups and fills. Best wishes.

Conniesueb - I could meet this weekend if you pick a place and time. I'd love to meet you. I met with some other women from the Dr. K site and we had a wonderful time. I found it very supportive to meet others who "get me." Let me know. Sorry Mal that you aren't available.

Thank you so much ladies! I'm going to check that site out now. I am so excited. Well, in all honesty, I have NO IDEA how I am going to pay for this, but I will find a way. I just want to get out of this fat suit so people can see the real me, and I can feel like the real me.

Congrats to both of you on your journey so far!

Char:)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
