Getting surgery on monday! 3/24/14

Recommended Posts

Many people recommend Isopure, since it's so high in Protein content, but not everyone likes the taste. I was using them at first, but my system doesn't particularly care for Splenda (Sucralose). I was using the New whey Protein Shots pre-op, but when I tried this post-op, it was truly awful!! Couldn't keep them down!!! I personally did the best with the Pure Protein shakes and the EAS Advantage shakes...they do pretty well with the Protein, without so many calories and carbs.

Wish you the very best with your surgery and your weight loss efforts!!

I had a real dislike for the icky sweet Protein Shakes (I'm 2 weeks post op) and looking for an alternative; I tried unflavored ( really isn't unflavored!) and was just making myself do it until I found the Syntrax LEMON TEA nectar. I mix this with unsweetened tea and it is actually pretty good. Best wishes on your journey. Welcome to the great adventure

. I have to order online because they don't sell SYNTRAX in Oklahoma.

I just had surgery march 18th I never had a problem with premier Proteins but I just can't handle them right now to thick so I started drinking muscle milk. It's more expensive but that's the only way I'll be able to I noticed muscle milk is way thinner. I was watering down premier but not even that helped. Btw just some advice for me the first two days out were the hardest throwing up my meds my fluids u don't feel it as much when your in the hospital because you have all the iv's but stay positive everyday that go's by your gonna feel better. Good luck!

I drink the Premier Protein by pouring it at room temperature over ice and add a 1/3 cup of coffee to it. This makes it much more easier to drink after surgery.

Thanks everyone! Great tips! I'm worried about the sweetness of certain drinks because when I was pregnant I hardly ate anything for the first 3 months and my sugar tolerance went way down. Things are still pretty sweet for me and I had my son in 2012.

Surgery is tomorrow! Been nauseas all day and I hope I think it might just be nerves!

Also today an older woman asked me if I was pregnant...pretty ironic for me since my surgery is tomorrow. Can't come soon enough I guess ;) Oh well looking forward to the next chapter in my life!

Thanks again! Tomorrow I will join the sleeve bandwagon! Wahoooooo!!!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
